Bio
The Andy James Band is all about high-energy blues music that never fails to get the audience excited (and dancing). The band features the father and son team of 35-year veteran Jimmy Thunder on bass & vocals and 15-year pro Andy James on guitar & vocals. They also co-write the bands' original material as well. Andy's influences are as varied as his musical tastes, and he weaves them all into his unique guitar style. His main blues influences are Freddie & B.B. King, Albert Collins, and the rockabilly style of Brian Setzer. Jimmy has been a long time fixture on the Massachusetts rock & blues scene. He's shared the stage with legends like Rick Derringer, Ruth Pointer (Pointer Sisters), Buddy Cage (New Riders Of The Purple Sage), and Dickey Betts. He is also currently playing bass for the legendary Commander Cody (Hot Rod Lincoln). "Professor" Leon's unique piano style and solid vocals never fail to fire up a crowd. Drummer Billy Seven rounds out the lineup. A long time veteran of the blues genre, Bill's played with some of the best in the business, including Pete Henderson, Chris Fitz, and Rod Price of Foghat fame. The band does a 60-40 mix of original & cover material.
