Better late than never? Hopefully, so.
Music hooked Andrew from an early age. While most kids dreamt of becoming senators or center fielders, Andrew was going to be a rock star when he grew up. Christmas that year brought the gift his 8-year-old hands had been dreaming of holding. A guitar. A really tiny guitar. Elated, Andrew stole off to his room and wrote his very first song that night. Being preternaturally attuned to the intersection of art and commerce, Andrew's first song was a love song. Andrew continued on through his school years taking lessons, and leading bands performing his original music, (which by this time had eschewed both love songs and female members from his audience). After 10 years of guitar lessons, Andrew decided that he hadn't yet spent enough of his mother's money on music lessons, so he decided to attend the Berklee College of Music, where he made some great friends, met his future wife, and learned approximately $100,00 worth of knowledge about Contemporary Writing and Production.
Andrew has spent his post-college years honing his skills as a professional musician. He has burnished his craft by playing hundreds of gigs and sessions, and teaching hundreds of lessons. All the while his childhood dream has been simmering on the back burner. It's too late to be a center fielder, but is it too late to be a rock star? Hopefully not, and Andrew is giving it a shot.
Stylistically, Andrew blends a little bit from previous decades together into a mix that will be timeless for decades to come. The foundation is the classic 60's guitar rock of Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Jeff Beck and the Beatles. Add to that the introspection of 70's singer-songwriters like Randy Newman, Joni Mitchell and James Taylor. The 80's brings the esoteric studio-wizardry of Brian Eno, the shiny world-pop of Peter Gabriel, and the funkysexyrockpop of Prince. Top it off with healthy doses of classic jazz, world, and classical music and you've arrived at something that sounds strangely familiar, yet synthesized in a totally new way. And, yes, Andrew has even written a few love songs too.
Andrew is currently performing his repertoire of sophisticatedly thoughtful, yet immediately relatable original music at a venue near you.
Better late than never? Hopefully, so.
