Hosted by Clinton’s Tavern in Toronto, the second showcase of the Home and Native Sound Series' third season had brilliant presentations by dynamic artists.
Andrea Caswell was the first performer on stage. Her song composition came directly from her heart, as informed by Caswell herself, with a dash of humour. Her original bittersweet lyrics, complimented by the melancholy chords of the cello, were the perfect accompaniment that defined her originality. Her fresh and witty approach captured the audience’s attention, and her splash of humour intrigued the public with “what’s to come”...(Caswell) delighted all by singing her love songs - one of the most notable being: 'I don’t know'.

The power of honesty and improv was extraordinarily evident when she invited her singer/songwriter sister on stage. (Andrea Caswell’s) set felt loose, free, and real, and because of this her songs struck that emotional balance between humour and heartfelt that a good cabaret desperately needs. - Money on Theatre
Love and the Afters is the debut EP from Toronto singer/songwriter Andrea Caswell.
There's nothing fancy about what Caswell does. She simply blends her strong voice with often piano-based arrangements.
It's a formula that works well with both fast paced songs (like the energetic opener "Against You") and slower numbers (such as the dark sultry "Witness").
Verdict? Buy it. - Snob's Music

Bio
Andrea Caswell has never been a neat and tidy singer-songwriter. She sings about messy relationships, messier break-ups and isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty when dissecting the mangled human heart.
Caswell released her debut EP “Love and the Afters” mid-2011 and has been enjoying national airplay on CBC Radio 1 ever since. Her blend of introspective angst, romantic sweetness, and heartfelt lyrics combine with soaring vocals and make for 6 relatable songs about the messiest and more pleasant aspects of a relationship.
Caswell began writing and performing music in the Ottawa and Kingston area as a teenager. In 2005, she moved to Toronto and studied Independent Music Production under John Switzer. She has performed at a variety of Toronto venues including Berkeley Street Theatre, The Central, Clinton’s, Czehoski’s (Indie Week 2011), Not My Dog, The Painted Lady, and a NXNE showcase at Free Times Cafe.
Shortlisted for the HNSS/Toronto Independent Music Awards for Best Accoustic Performance, Caswell is a performer who is not afraid to overshare. She feels it, she writes it, then she performs it. Sometimes she will even sit in a bathtub just to have a good chat about it. Caswell produced a YouTube series called “Tub Talks with Andrea Caswell” (http://tubtalks.tumblr.com). Whether she is singing a pretty tune with Brian Lahaie and utilizing the acoustics of a fully tiled room, or having a chat about the predominance of Beards (i.e. bearded men) in the midst of a luxurious bubble bath, it’s hard not to be charmed by her candor and willingness to put herself in pretty much any kind of situation just to relate to her fans.
