Finally, if the name Anam Milá sounds suspiciously Irish, the six tracks on the Austin threesome's new CD Reset are pure now-music rooted in the broad expanse of contemporary rock. The warmth found on Reset is real, too: the disc was recorded all analog, so that "Home" and "Achilles" float in the ether much as they're as anchored to mother earth. - Austin Chronicle
Tonight Austinist presents a showcase to keep you rocking straight through the mid-week hump. With local acts Bat Castle, Oak is Keeping, and Anam Milá, the night offers something for everyone--with varying musical genres and dynamics. Luckily we know what we're doing and since it's only Wednesday, we promise to ease you along by starting off slowly with the jazz-fused stylings of the Anam Milá trio led by Amanda Rosalie's soothing vocals...

Bio
Anam Milá is Amanda Rosalie, Charles McGehee , and Jon Roesch.
In search for creative musical collaboration, Amanda, Charles and Jon found each other through a series of serendipitous events. After hearing Amanda’s solo acoustic work, Jon and Charles were inspired to give her songs a fuller sound and the three quickly discovered a captivating chemistry in the rehearsal room and on stage. Their collaborative efforts brought Anam Milá to life.
Keen on experimenting with original recording techniques, Jon challenged the band to make their first EP, Reset, completely analog, using no digital enhancements and no auto tuning (although some songs are altered by an original Leslie Wurlitzer). A throwback to the good old days, all but one song on the EP was laid down on two-inch tape, the last song recorded in a single performance onto half inch tape. The product is a rare gift in a first release. A collection of songs that are not repetitive in sound or subject and yet hold together into a satisfying whole. Songs that carry layers of meaning and a richness of musicality that gently unfolds as you listen again and again.

The end result of this alchemy of musicians and talent is an unpredictable, original, yet thoroughly American sound that straddles jazz, pop, rock, and folk to produce lingering melodies and an all-around engaging performance. Full of lyrics wrapped in metaphors from everyday moments, their songs are marked by stunning vocal harmonies, melodic bass, driving rhythms and a menagerie of auxiliary instrumentation.
