Brit-popish, keyboard-center band has strong components that could gel. The urgent rocker "I Need It" and "In The Middle" are decent outings that signal a band whose singer (Jon Marquez) is its keybordist. But it's the looping, swaggering and ultimately epic "Go Get It" that shows what Amidst can do. Tracing a dramatic incline of U2 and Ours, the song deploys guitar, keys and "oohs" and "ahhs" vocals to grand effect. it is their most deftly track, the kind of thing Muse fans could embrace. - music connection magazine

Bio
Amidst is an up-and-coming band from Los Angeles with a fresh sound that is intended for a diverse crowd. Their first album, "Never Better Than Nothing," is scheduled for release in the Spring of 2010. The band will be promoting the album with an international tour planned for the US and Mexico. The band members are Jon Marquez (piano and vocals), Michel Denegri (bass), Fernando Torreblanca (drums), and Alex Bajos (guitar).
Amidst explodes with energetic bass lines, powerful drums, driving guitar riffs, soaring piano melodies, and inspiring vocals. The band members have a great mutual understanding of each other's musical creativity. Each member has contributed to the writing and/or producing of the album. The early days that began the Amidst sound flowed naturally as the members would hang out in the studio and write for fun. After three months, the drums, bass, piano and vocals were writen for the entire first album. The guitars on the album were written and performed by Luis Torreblanca in Mexico City, where he resides. The band found a permanent guitarist this year, Alex Bajos. The album features special guests, Carlos Chairez (guitarist for Kinky) and Pablo Hopenhayn (violinist for Julieta Venegas). It was mixed by Grammy Award nominee, Mark Needham, who has worked with the likes of The Killers, Chris Isaac, Blondie, and Fleetwood Mac among many others.
Currently Amidst is back in the studio preparing for their tour and writing new music for the next album. They are also in in production of their first music video for a track called "I Need It," which is the first single from their new album. Tour dates and band updates will be posted on the band's website.
