Bio
Alison's wide range and eclectic musical taste lend themselves to her electrified, vulnerable, folk/pop sound, though on stage she presents an intimate acoustic experience. Her melodies are sweet and her lyrics are loaded.
Beginnings
Alison’s recording debut was the song “Jesus Little Lamb,” which she cooed out uncannily on pitch in a voice only two years old. Twenty some years later that voice matured into vehicle for the heavenly messages carried in her song.
While attending University Alison began focusing seriously on performing. Eventually she taught herself how to play guitar, which opened up a whole new musical world for songwriting. Now a proficient songwriter, Alison began touring during her summer breaks to raise money to record her first album. Finally, in the spring of 2009, that became a reality.
First Project
Alison’s debut album, No Words, captures the singer’s energetic soprano without compromising its elegance. On this musical journey, Alison sings her way through struggle and victory alike, always returning to the love that is beyond even the album’s words. Produced by Roni Szpakowski, the album plays similar to a live acoustic performance on a café stage.
Latest Project
Alison’s sophomore project The Heart of the Matter was penned as she chronicled life experience through song. Representing the songwriters lowest valleys and highest mountains—songs about depression juxtaposed with songs of praise—the album captures the essence of life’s highs and lows: Jesus. Working with Philadelphia-based producer Delon Lawrence to record the album’s eleven tracks it showcases the best of a modern folk/pop playlist, borrowing from the sounds of Americana, R&B, and rap.
As a minister of the gospel my first charge is to fulfill the Great Commission. “He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.’” (Mark 16:15) Secondly, as a songwriter my charge is to “Sing to the Lord a new song.” (Ps. 96:1) My purpose, vision, and mission for ministry rest on these two beautiful verses.
