Bio
Alison James is a NYC based singer and songwriter singing in English and French atop her piano-based indie-toned pop. She studied French and Italian literature/culture at Yale, lived in Paris after graduation, then soon felt compelled to move to NYC in order to dive into her own music creations. Her first EP, Degrees of Separation, was released on March 27, 2017 - an audio-visual project dealing with the walls we construct between ourselves and other people in today's social-relational climate. A classical pianist by training, she weaves melodic piano parts with authentic vocals to make her own genre of sorts, a blending of classic singer-songwriters like Carol King or Norah Jones, with new twists and thoughtful perspectives.
