"The songs on Oxygen are written with great attention to detail and are well orchestrated with violin and trumpet adding texture to dueling guitars and a subtle rhythm section. Boyle's voice is the standout element on the EP, and acts as a pivot around which all other facets move, and it truly is captivating"

Bio
“A fantastic songwriter…” IAN MOSS
“A great voice…” CHRISTY DIGNAM, Aslan
ALAN BOYLE is an Irish born singer-songwriter who now calls Australia home.
As a Brisbane-based artist he's been building a reputation as a powerful live performer with notable appearances at the Woodford Folk Festival, Greenfest, Queensland Multicultural Festival, The Planting and has supported great Australian acts like Diesel, Mark Seymour, Ian Moss, Ben Salter (Gin Club), Busby Marou, James Blundell and international touring artists Steve Poltz, Aslan, David Kitt and Paddy Casey.
Beginning in Dublin he fronted Keith Walker's (Power Of Dreams) Tapestry, performing at the legendary White Horse and Eamonn Doran’s underground, and solo in venues like the International Bar and Vicar Street, alongside Paddy Casey, Glen Hansard, Damien Rice and the late Herb Dade.
He spent an entire winter busking on Dublin’s Grafton Street, earning cigarettes from students, abuse from junkies and a tenner from Bono (once) and played on stages in Rome, Venice and at the Festa Della Musica in Florence.
In the winter of 2005 he produced an EP called SHALLOW HEART partly recorded in Pulse Studios, Dublin and augmented by delicately austere recordings of two others in their naked bones.
In contrast, his 2009-released OXYGEN EP came together over two sticky Brisbane summers with producer Andrew Kennedy and is a dense and emotive work, drawing on a rich celtic music heritage, incisive lyricism and a unique vocal style that is at once warm, worn, jagged and intimate.
Following the EP’s release Alan was selected as the recipient of the 2009 Billy Thorpe Scholarship Award as chosen by Arts QLD and the Thorpe family, and he embarked on a national Irish tour.
OXYGEN has had tracks respectively nominated for a QSong Award, shortlisted in the 2009 Vanda and Young Songwriting Competition and was a Category Finalist in the 2011 International Songwriting Competition.
In December of 2010 he released a film clip for the title track from OXYGEN and following his journey as a finalist in the Telstra Road To Tamworth, recorded a single for QLD Flood Relief called “The Ground On Which I’m Standing”, with all proceeds going to the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal.
Alan is currently laying the foundations of his debut album with Aria Award-winning producer Magoo (Gin Club, Powderfinger, Kate Miller-Heidke), due for release in late 2012.
The first single "Highway Of Dreams" was nominated for a QLD Music Award and was marked by a East/West Coast Australian solo tour.
