I’m completely hooked, dare I say, in love with Adam Jensen’s latest release. What an incredible gem! How is it I had never heard of him? It appears he has toured nationally so I need to get on the ball here. Not to sound all music bizzy but, yes, he’s commercial-sounding (Matchbox 20’s Rob Thomas even co-wrote a tune with him), accessible to those who love catchy roots-infused singer/songwriter style music but from a pure music-loving standpoint, I simply dig every note of it. Without enough room to extol each song, I’ll just state each one’s a winner. This should be all over the radio. More, please! - The Noise

Adam Jensen was getting ready to push the second single from his latest E.P. when the unthinkable happened at the Boston Marathon.
So instead of promoting the edgy video he made for "Dead Man Walking," Jensen returned to "You'll Never Walk Alone," a song he had written with Candlebox's Kevin Martin that seemed far more fitting for the time.
"Kevin and I wrote that in December. It was in the pool of songs for the last record, but was never finished," Jensen recalls. "Then when everything went down, I just wanted to do something. What could I do?"
What he did is retreat to the studio and finish the song that is both love letter to his city and anthem to forge ahead.
"There's not much I changed. It used to be 'sing loud and proud,' but I changed it to 'stand loud and proud,'" he says. "I wanted it to be a tribute to the city and a little bit of sticking-your-chest-out pride."
You can purchase the single by clicking http://adamjensenmusic.bandcamp.com/. All proceeds will benefit the One Fund established to help victims of the Marathon bombing.
Jensen released the 5-song "Head On a String" E.P. in January (hitting #7 on the iTunes singer/songwriter chart). The disc was a nice step forward in pop-rock song craft for the man who built a following first with Mission Hill. "Monsters" arrived as the first single, a bouncy piano-driven track with a dark undercurrent. And the E.P.'s Americana-flavored "Redemption Man" was included in Allston Pudding's "Boston Marathon Relief Mixtape."
With Mission Hill, Jensen displayed the sort of bold strokes and vibrant arrangements fine tuned on "Head on a String." Jensen's style made Mission Hill an easy fit to share the stage with such national acts as Train, Bon Jovi, and Candlebox (which is how he met Martin; now the two are "whiskey buddies"). After parting ways with his former record label, Jensen began recording and performing under his own name. He has a second E.P in the works for a summer release and plans to be on tour through the Northeast.
"Dead Man Walking" is the mournful ballad from "Head on a String," and here's the video created for the single.
While the song is introspective, Jensen says he wanted to bypass any heaviness in the wake of the Marathon tragedy and focus on music as a unifying force.
"I don't have much to say politically," he says. "But I thought ("You'll Never Walk Alone") had a message people could rally around." - Boston.com
It has been a long, harrowing journey for Boston and for the nation since the sorrowful events that occurred during the Boston Marathon on Monday, April 15. To give the public an avenue to support those affected by this tragedy, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Menino established “One Fund Boston.”
“The One Fund Boston will act as a central fund to receive much needed financial support,” Governor Patrick said, according to One Fund Boston, “At moments like this, we are one state, one city, and one people.”
Boston native Adam Jensen, established recording artist, producer, and songwriter, has dedicated a song to Boston with Kevin Martin of the band, ‘Candlebox.’ Having never recorded the song until shortly after the events of April 15, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone-A Song for Boston’ is a tribute for the purpose of raising funds for One Fund Boston. All proceeds will go to charity.

“My hope is to not only raise money for One Fund Boston, but to celebrate the lives lost in the attacks, honor the innocent who were injured, show thanks to the first responders, the doctors and volunteers, and of course to pay tribute to the great city of Boston,” said Adam.

Props to Misha for showin this to me, but I thought I would be the one to share it with all of you this evening. This acoustic cover, done live flawlessly by the way, is one for the ages. Adam Jensen just murders Drake’s new born single “Started From The Bottom” with this rhythmic, soulful cover. And harmonica? This guy doesn’t fuck around. Easily my favorite rendition of this song. You’re gonna wanna listen to the original by Drake again and then go back and forth between the two. Idk, I kinda prefer this one. - Fist In The Air
We love good music, and we just love when good music is turned into more good music!
And that’s just what Adam Jensen did to Drake’s Started From The Bottom.
The hot, eerie song gets transformed into a more soulful, emotional version by the musician.
Started From The Bottom feels completely new with Adam's acoustic makeover on it!
We LUV both, so you definitely have to check this cover out (above)!

Hello everyone, in case you are wondering who Adam Jensen is then do not fear let me explain. Adam is the guy behind the voice and music of the band Mission Hill (see post Mission Hill). I have been a fan of Adams work for few years now and I have to admit I was a bit gutted when I heard that Mission Hill had gone their separate ways. However, when Adam told me he was working on solo material all was right again. He assured me that his new solo material was going to be worth the wait.
Adam has just released his new EP “Head on a String” and he was right, IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT! Adam has continued where he left off with more catchy lyrics and his voice is sounding even better!
The five track album is another all killer no filler EP, each track could be used as a single release. One of the strongest sides to the music he creates is his amazing gift for writing descriptive but catchy lyrics. He seems to add so much emotion and story into songs without ever over complicating them, this EP is a great example of that. Each of the tracks contains the common element of Adams amazing ability to add the right kind of vocal emotion into his lyrics and as I said earlier, his voice is sounding even better.
He has chose “Monster” as his first release which is one of the strongest tracks on the EP and it will be a great success for him. However, its not my favourite on there, my choice would be the track “Lost without You”. This track demonstrates what I was saying earlier about his writing skills with the right amount of emotion in the vocals. I have to mention the track “Redemption Man” as it has a different sound to what I'm used to with a country/rock sound. Its nice to hear him try something different and its quite good as well.
If you want to listen to the music I am talking about, then do not fear check out the player below or go to Adam’s SoundCloud site to stream his new release.

Enough about me talking about the EP, I asked Adam what this EP release meant to him and he kindly replied with:
“this release definitely means a lot man. i wrote a ton of songs for the EP and whittled it down to 5 so they are all songs that I'm really proud of. also its a project where i have complete control over the sound and to have my band rocking out on this cd is awesome!”
Just to give you a little bonus, I’ve added the live acoustic version of Adam singing “Dream On” originally by Aerosmith. Regular readers will know that I am an huge Aerosmith fan and I do fear anybody that covers their music. However, I do approve of his version! Adam show’s how good his voice is live and demonstrates his natural talent (even though he didn't hit the higher notes towards the end, but Steve Tyler’s voice is EPIC!). - My Random Jukebox
Every so often an artist comes along that needs to be paid attention to, regardless of their genre. Boston-based singer/songwriter Adam Jensen, who has been feature on FNT before (HERE), is one of those artists.
His debut EP “Head on a String” showcases his phenomenal voice and ability to master so many sounds. All five (5) songs on the EP were written by Jensen, except “Lost Without You” which he co-wrote with Rob Thomas (Matchbox 20) and Nashville radio DJ, Dave Harris. “Lost Without You” was produced by Grammy Award nominee Aaron Johnson (The Fray). “Monsters” was produced by Barrett Yeretsian, best known for producing Christina Perri’s multi-platinum selling single “Jar of Hearts” and is absolutely on the same level. Adam then teamed up to co-produce with the former Boston Music Award “Producer of the Year” winner, Benny Grotto, on “Cannonball” and “Redemption Man” and Boston-based producer Taylor Barefoot on “Dead Man Walking.”
The EP is now available on iTunes and is a must buy for any music fan. Talent is talent. Currently it is at #9 on the singer/songwriter charts and climbing. - Fresh New Tracks
The band Mission Hill has been a staple on the Boston music scene (and well beyond) for quite some time, and while all it's members remains intact and continue to tour, performing all the songs that have established them as a band on the cusp of greatness. Only the name of the band has changed.
The new CD is called "Head on a String" by Adam Jensen (front-man for the band). The disc contains five original tracks that have picked up right where the act has left off, it also reinforces and delivers the message that there is no change in Adam's ability to write insightful and catchy lyrics as well as collaborating with the band when creating all the necessary musical arrangements that have made so many of Adam's songs in the past radio ready. Head on a String is no exception here.
The first single "Monster" which can currently be heard/seen on youtbe (lyrics included) plays like a turning point of sorts with respect to Adam's writing style. The words are as desperate as they are honest. and while the other tracks on the CD brilliantly show off the bands music that their fans have come accustom too, the tracks are also delivered with a much deeper introspective look into Adam's maturity as a songwriter. Lets not forget that back in 2010 Adam Jensen won an LA Music Award for "Songwriter of the Year". hopefully someday the Music Awards of his home city will wise up and embrace him in a way he deserves.
Head on a String, the new CD by Adam Jensen contains everything Mission Hill fans are looking for. and it not only shows Adam at the top of his game but it's also a qualifier to list Adam Jensen as one of Boston's most prolific and talented songwriters.
check out the new CD on iTunes, where it currently sits at #8 on the Top Singer/Songwriter Album download list.
Enjoy! - The Drop List
Boston based indie rocker Mission Hill recently won the chance to open for Bon Jovi at their July 24th show at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts. While the bands performance at the show was a clear crowd pleaser and helped the band gain thousands of new fans, how the band got to the chance to play the show was pretty amazing.
“I saw a contest one day on OurStage.com and I just threw our profile up there to enter us in the contest. The funny part is I totally forgot that I even did it, I was just surfing the internet on our computer and I just randomly saw it,” Mission Hills lead singer Adam Jensen told Alternative Addiction. “So then I signed on one day, and I had this message saying we were in the Top 20. Then I guess it goes on to Bon Jovi’s people to pick, and I guess they picked us.”
When Jensen received the news he said he was in a hospital recovering from knee surgery.
“I started yelling in the hospital saying I was playing for Bon Jovi, people were like ‘No you’re not, just go back to sleep!’ And I was like, ‘No I am serious, I am playing with Bon Jovi,’ it was pretty funny.”
If you missed the band’s first performance at Gillette, you can catch the band doing a repeat performance on August 26th, as part of the pre-game show before the Patriots’ 3rd pre-season game against the St. Louis Rams.
Mission Hill’s brand new 7-song EP, Beautiful Addiction, was release July 20th on iTunes and features the hit song “Crazy” - Alternative Addiction
Rock music has its eccentrics, and it has its pop stars. As the genre has been pushed further and further out of the mainstream, it seems to have little room for authentic artists that split the difference. Boston based Adam Jensen, the poster child for the revival of the musician in the traditional sense, aims to fill that void under the tutelage of Buddy Allen Management.
Perhaps known best for elevating New England’s “Mission Hill” to a position of considerable notoriety, Adam Jensen has opened for the likes of Bon Jovi, Kid Rock, and more. In fact, Jensen recently performed his critically acclaimed “Lost Without You” single on Fox 17 in Nashville. Written by Adam Jensen, Rob Thomas, and Dave Harris, “Lost Without You” details the rise and fall of a relationship that’s palpable as it is powerful, leaving the listener wanting more.
