“...a true fusion of jazz, rock, R&B, hip hop and reggae. ...Very exciting live, the writing is impressive and the musicians are at a very high level.”

和 – the Japanese symbol for balance and peace, and potentially a (bad) tattoo. Adam Ahuja conveys this idea of balance through his debut album Balance (yay for redundancy). According to the man himself, “a purpose of this release is to find a balance – balance in instrumentation, style of tracks, musical style, and most importantly the balance in life, in general.” The blending of musical styles on this record is genuinely impressive. I’ve been very intrigued with jazz infused hip-hop since BADBADNOTGOOD’s collaboration with Ghostface Killah, Sour Soul. Adam’s music feeds this little niche of mine and compels me to share this album with you. - Influential Music Blog
I must admit that sometimes I take for granted the fact that I live in one of the most wonderful cities in the world for live music. New York City is blessed with more venues for music performances than anywhere I have ever visited. There is a space for every different style of music you could ask for. The talent pool is huge though so it is relatively rare when you discover an artist that really grabs your full attention when they take the stage. We found one in Adam Ahuja.
The NYC-based musician focuses on keyboard but also plays guitar, drums, and sings. His own unique style seems to draw on the best elements from a wide array of genres including jazz, rock, funk, electronica, and hip-hop. The keyboard skills of Adam Ahuja really stand out. One of my favorite instrument makers Nord even supports him with an artist endorsement. This has led to Adam performing with some true legends of music like Robert Randolph, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, and Questlove of The Roots.
A great introduction to the talents of Adam Ahuja can be experienced in this video mashup featuring performances at The Blue Note NYC, Shapeshifter Lab, Spike Hill and Sullivan Hall. - Indie Band Guru

Bio
Adam Ahuja is an NYC-based keyboardist (primary instrument), guitarist, drummer, and vocalist who draws jazz, rock, funk, soul and world styles into a fluid approach using live electronic looping or with an eclectic live band. Adam's music highlights textured harmonies, an affinity for groove, a mixture of singing & rhyming and inspired improvisations building fresh energy from moment to moment.
Adam has performed his original music at venues such as The Blue Note Jazz Club (NYC) and has also performed as a national-touring keyboardist in acts such as Robert Randolph and the Family Band and Ana Popovic Band, playing on stage alongside musicians Kenny Wayne Shepard, Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads, Questlove of The Roots and others. Adam has contributed as a studio musician to recordings such as Meatloaf's Hang Cool Teddybear(guitar) produced by Rob Cavallo of Warner Music Group and has collaborated under Musical Director Dennis 'Doc' Williams of The O'Jays. Adam holds an Artist Endorsement with Nord Keyboards.
Adam's aim is to express music in a way that one may speak a language, or as one might watch a river - at ease in it's natural flow. Ultimately, Adam plays music because it inspires a sense of inner joy, in the hope that this joy can also inspire others in their own lives.
“Very exciting live, the writing is impressive and the musicians are at a very high level.”
