Abandoned Lighthouse

The beginning is a difficult place to start, when there is no clear one to discuss. Abandoned Lighthouse started as a two piece in Newark, DE with Matty Williams and Tim Mislock. The two started writing instrumental ambient music fused with crazy, animal drum beats. Although, under a different name at the time the ground work was set for what was to become AL. As college ended the two found it impossible to continue writing together once they got the hell out of Delaware. Tim continued to write music in the same style, minus drums and still minus words. During Tim's last year in Newark, he wrote a series of songs set to the vocal track of a short story he had written. After that Tim moved to NYC and started adding vocals to his ambient creations. The result is the hungover, heartbreaking melodious and lyrical journey one is taken on when listening to Abandoned Lighthouse. The music calls to mind indie rock bands like Broken Social Scene, TV on
the Radio, and Radiohead but one can also hear the folk influence of Dylan and Guthrie in the lyrical styles. It was once described to by a friend as, "the bipolar love child of Brandon Canning, Andrew Bird and Kyp Malone." The one thing that sets this music apart from other bands is the honesty. Upon listening one can hear the emotion in each song and can see that Tim is playing music he truly believes in.
