Bio
A one-man band based out of Savannah, GA, A.M. Rodriguez', "signature countrified blues,"* have been taking unsuspecting audiences and offering them wrenching, honest Americana songs steeped in dark Southern tradition, and a confessional poet's heart-worn melodies.
"There’s a strong narrative quality to Rodriguez’s work, carried by the blistering, angular lilt of his vocals. An English major at University of Texas, he was primarily (and stubbornly) a fiction writer... [As] a fiction writer, Rodriguez often writes songs as varying characters, giving voices to the silenced women of country music, like in his followup to Johnny Cash’s 'Delia’s Gone'... [Now] he’s putting his honky-tonk training to work, bringing new originals and classics to light."**
Rodriguez' debut ep, Low Country Blues (where all instruments were recorded to tape by himself) is forthcoming, as is an unreleased track on the label, Furious Hooves', compilation, Stay Rad Savannah. He has played opened for bands as diverse as Creepoid, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Black Tusk, West End Motel, River Whyless, Family and Friends, Joe Buck, J.D. Wilkes, and numerous others. Festivals played include the 2015 No Control Fall Fest and the 2015 Savannah Stopover Fest where he was billed to play a showcase with up and comers such as Lilly Hiatt, Margo Price and the Price Tags, Amythyst Kiah, Ruby the Raby Foot, and Adia Victoria.
