Word? Combining the live instrumentation of The Roots with the brute force of Brother Ali and the honesty of Slug, the Cynics succeed in representing Lawton with an attack of smooth beats and introspective lyrics. Laying down lines about everything from religion to personal insecurities, Dewey Binn..s narrative lyrics consistently command your attention between addictive head-bobbing choruses. Originally featuring Binns on the microphone and saevio.is.dead on the beats, this hip-hop duo recently expanded to welcome members JBM on production and DJ SL on the turntables. Some might call it ..emo rap..; saevio.is.dead prefers ..positive and truthful hip-hop... Either way, the Cynics.. soulful songs will carve a permanent place in your brain .. and your playlist. There's a reason why local artist Jabee calls this group his favorite local Hip-hop band. And you have to see their live show. Dewey Binns is one of the best lyricists in the state, and he displays it on this release. One of only a hand full of Hip-hop acts in the state with a live drummer and a bass guitar player, this disc gives you that classic "beats and rhymes" feel with little regard for the swag phenomenon. With strong tracks throughout the album - 8Bit has very few reasons to be cynical.

Self-Help is the perfect example of a complementary collabo between two MCs of distinct underground hip-hop affiliations. Rooted in the SW, Runt of Jivin Scientists (Tuscon, AZ) and Dewey Binns of 8 Bit Cynics (Las Cruces, NM), this duo highlights the realities of love and life situations with edgy humor and stark truth. Complementarily comparable to the collaboration of Grouch and Eligh, hearing the claim, I'm just a simple man on the track titled "So Many of Em," is no irony. Check out the following track and get your share of their catchy beats and humorous lyrics.

Bio
8bit Cynics is an eccentric indie Hip Hop trio with roots from the Southwest to the Northeast. They came together in early 2005 when producer saevio.is.dead (Will Watkins; Lawton, Oklahoma) met up with emcee Chuy(Jesse McDermott; Las Cruces, New Mexico). Since then, the talented duo has continued to put out quality material with a "do it yourself" attitude on booking tours and record sales. With a unique live show of socially conscience, introspective rhymes and live instrumentation, the 8bit Cynics have established themselves as one of the best up-and-coming Hip Hop acts in the Southwest.
They have had the privilege of sharing the stage with many other influential acts such as MarsILL, Blu, DJ Element, Mac Lethal, Astronautalis, L.A. Symphony, RedCloud, Culture Shock Camp, Rob Viktum, Braille, 2Live Crew, Josh Martinez, Sleep, Mr. Dibbs, and many more.
After several successful releases, 8bit joined forces with the Jivin Scientists to create the underground sensation "Self Help". The album has received critical acclaim including a nomination in URB Magazine's "Next 1000 Artists".
The group has been nominated in the 2009 Oklahoma Mixtape awards for "Best Alternative Hip Hop Artist" and "Song Of The Year", and are members of Oklahoma's premier hip hop crew "Puzzle People."
They are now on the road and hard at work in the studio on their third full-length album "Flannel". The future is very bright for this talented group, who place positivity and originality above mainstream success.
