4TH & Inchez
4th and Inchez is compromised of 3 members, Verse, KB & Kizza, which are all of Nigerian heritage. The trio is originally from Brooklyn, New York but currently reside in Houston, Texas. These different sounds can be detected in their music, and can be described as East Coast meets the Dirty South with an ethnic wrinkle. That is one of the things that makes 4th and Inchez sound unique. The trio doesn’t limit their sound to what would be typically thought of as Hip Hop/Rap. When Verse, KB, and Kizza came to Houston they soon joined forces with three other Houston rappers to form The Union Muzic Group. In the eight months that followed The Union worked diligently in the studio and produced three mixtapes all while building a fan base and a street following. Our very first single “My Banana” (We Loco) was produced by KB and had over 3,000 downloads in the first week. All three of the mix-tapes had downloads in the tens of thousands, over 60,000 plays on www.myspace.com/4thinches along with thousands of cd’s passed out in the streets.

4th and Inchez music has been played on 97.9 KBXX, 90.9 KTSU, and 90.3 and have performed several live shows in Houston, Dallas, & Beaumont, TX. 4th and Inchez have opened for many artist such as Rick Ross, Fabolous, Dorrough, Gucci Mane and many more. Before forming the Union, 4th and Inchez produced 2 other mixtapes; No Fly Zone, & Lag-City. What makes 4th and Inchez so unique is the diversity of each group members style and how it translates into their music. Three young men who have experienced three distinct ways of life (lived in the East, moved and grew accustomed to the ways of Houston, Texas) but all have backgrounds and influences stemming from Africa. The ultimate goal is for 4th and Inchez music to reach further than the Hip Hop crowd, but also to the alternative crowd as well.

These dudes lived up to the hype I’ve been hearing. I’d been riding with the Point of View album for a while now but hadn’t listened to it. After a good show last night at HOB, I decided to pop it in and let it play. It wasn’t bad at all…matter fact it was pretty good. They all bring a different style to the project. One of them sounds like I20 but a lot more lyrical and another reminds me of Sticky Fingaz but more lyrical as well. The tracks were cool too. They definitely don’t sound like a group from Houston. They covered a variety of topics on the project and did it in a entertaining and creative way while simultaneously being very arrogant and cocky. That usually bothers me but it didn’t this time. Some of the songs that made it to the iPod were Bite Me, 5 Stacks and Star Trekk. I think I do need to say that Autotune is dead. They used it frequently. I’m not sure if I heard anything that would be successful on the radio either. I was a little disappointed in the fact that the download was .wma’s and not .mp3's. That created some extra work for me. This group reps The Union also. They have a lot of different styles with them. Whenever that project releases it will either be mind blowing brilliant or overwhelmingly bad…we’ll see. I give Point of View 4 swangs - htownunderground

What can I say. Your group is Nutso! I think you guys are amazing. Two Words: CLEAN VERSIONS. When going after film and tv, you want to always send in clean versions to your records so your song can have the most access. Keep sending your stuff. And always carefully read the listing your submitting to. It sucks that I have to return these cause the joints are rockin.

You guys are dope! The lyrics are sicko. I enjoyed the film "Catch Me If You Can" as well. I have to admit, I dont know jus how universal this one is. Only because Frank Abagnale t exactly a household name. You might want to change the song to "Catch Me If You Can"...not focus so much on the screwed "frank abagnale"...

4th & Inchez - Point of View
Welcome to a change from the mundane. Point of View starts off as just that, and lets the listener know that they are stepping over to the other side. The title track is one of the tapes strongest and showcases the groups talents in producing, singing, and rapping.

The group does contain 3 distinct personalities, which is evident on their solo tracks, Domino Motion (Kizza,) also one of the tapes strongest and most universal tracks, Product of The Struggle (Verse,) and Star Trekk (Pluto Nash.) While their voices are clearly NY, there sound is defiantly not boxed in by an East Coast frame of mind.

POV does become a little lackluster, or typical, towards the middle with songs like Talk 2 Em, a typical “flossin” song glorifying the money, car, clothes, and hos, (let’s face it, we’ve heard this before,) and 5 Stacks which is another Mr. Me Too (Clipse,) I Can Do It Too (Young Doe,) in general I think the point of view (no pun intended) on this story is played out. Frankly these two songs seem to be taking away from the overall message of the tape seen on tracks like Yellow Tape: “In the hood we wanna produce 10 Obamas/ But roun here most n****s is Lorenzo Lamas.”

The commercial hit on the tape is easily Shawty Wanna Go which is club and radio ready, while being strong enough to break the Hip Hop/RnB chart and universal enough to hit the dance floors of Europe’s huge Techno scene.

Overall it’s a solid effort, with a little fine tuning the industry will see the new era of hip hop from a different Point of View, pun intended.
