1947

My name is Skyler Meany, and I am the lead singer/guitarist of 1947. We play all original music (rock based). Guitars, bass, drums and singing (no screaming). We have copyrighted material released on our first album from 2013. The band formed in West Palm Beach in 2009, and it's undeniable that a lot has changed since then. I began this journey with Miguel Hurtado with rough recordings and high hopes. We set out to do something unique, and to not fear the diverse sounds that 1947 has come to have from song to song. We have played all throughout South Florida at many venues. West Palm Beach, Lake Worth and Delray are all common grounds to 1947. We have even played at the world famous Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, CA. In the long run, we plan to go all over the world and share our music with everyone. Our main intention with 1947 is helping to encourage awareness and peace through the power of music.

Eran Hastings joined the band in late 2010 and proved to be an excellent choice. He served as an awesome bass player up until late 2012, at which point he had to leave the band for personal reasons. He was an excellent piece of the band and was missed, but he has now rejoined 1947. Eran will definitely be assisting in the recording of new material this year. Currently the band just consists of myself and Eran Hastings. Unfortunately, Miguel Hurtado had to leave the band late last year as well. Despite this, 1947 has continued to be productive with writing and recording new material (about 250 new original songs in the past year).

1947 has had some great drummers over the years. Though due to difficulties and other unforeseen circumstances, 1947 does not currently have a drummer. Previously when we did not have a drummer we worked with studio musicians, who are often more than adequately suitable and easy to work with. We do look forward to once again having a good drummer as a permanent member of the band. We continue to actively pursue finding the right band members to work with us. 1947 is now in better writing and performing shape than ever before. 2015 is going to be primarily focused on recording new demos and a new album or two.

Together we are 1947. We set out to make something new. We will always stay true to ourselves and our music. We realized that we could have chosen to sell out and "go far, fast" like many other bands. We greatly value our patience and endurance to deny the route of immediate satisfaction though. Our music is our own, and we are very proud of everything that we create. We are greatly inspired by many bands. Attempting to name them all would be impossible. 1947 incorporates sounds from many different genres such as classical, blues, various middle-eastern music, folk, hard rock, grunge and many others. Over all we combine these elements with a rock base and melodic vocals (no screaming). We are looking to create something new while remaining true to ourselves. That is why we make music.

1947 loves playing live and recording. We have played at the World Famous Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, CA. We completed our first album in 2013 (included w/ press kit). We played a huge music festival in Melbourne for thousands of people as well. Despite any difficulties with finding the right other band members, 1947 will push onward and continue performing our music for the world.
