Bio
Megan Ukoh is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Beaumont, Texas currently residing in the Washington DC area. She has a vast array of musical influences however those pivotal she accredits to Sade, Bob Marley, Zap Mama, Fred Hammond, Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, and Corinne Bailey Rae. These artists as well as many others in the neo soul, gospel, jazz, and Brazilian music realms have culminated in her producing a listening experience that is enjoyable, easy going, and fun but still seeks to provoke thought in a contemporary way. Fellow musician Rebecca Krafft coined the phrase ‘a soulful, spiritual groove’ to describe her music. She draws inspiration from her faith in God and a love for his creations (people, animals, and nature). Megan Ukoh also uses her music as a vehicle to express her perspectives and tell stories. The very core of her ethos is to share these messages through her songs.
