Alive & Well

When it comes to performing in Lubbock, there’s no better way to be than Alive and Well.

Alive and Well will perform at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Depot Entertainment District’s O Bar, 609 18th St.

The band includes Reina Garza on bass and backup vocals, Matt Garcia on lead guitar, Mike Garcia as the touring drummer and Jen Thornton on lead vocals and rhythm guitar.

Thornton, who is originally from Portales. New Mexico, said everyone in the band was with previous projects, but decided to get together after an impromptu jam session. And, that was when they decided everything just clicked.

She said the name of the alternative rock band came to her after hearing lyrics to a song. She presented the idea to her bandmates, and they decided the name fit the project.

Thornton said they haven’t released an album just yet, but plan on going to Austin in a few weeks to finish recording an EP. The name has yet to be decided.

She said everyone in the band contributes to writing the original music. She said band members will bring ideas to practice, and then the rest of them get together and flesh it out.

“We definitely want to put out our EP, and we really want to start traveling and playing a lot of shows everywhere,” she said.
