With Arms Raised

Okay, so this is going to jump around like Tarantino on diet pills, but that's exactly what my experience with With arms Raised has been like. First of all, I have to log one extremely important nerd fact: Yosh, guitar player for With Arms Raised, has the coolest hooded jacket ever. When it is zipped all the way over his head he becomes a Storm Trooper from Star Wars: plus 10 nerd points.



Now our music scene in Denver is very communal and basically one big, albeit somewhat dysfunctional, extremely connected family. If a guitar player sneezes in Aurora, a drummer in Westminster says, “Gesundheit.” So basically the person next to you at a show could have sold a million records last year, or be a rabid fan, or just be your friendly neighborhood mutant, i.e., me. My first introduction to With Arms Raised was at an Aggrolites’ show when a very prominent figure in the international Punk scene (hint: he writes for the mighty CMB) introduced me to With Arms Raised and told me how good they were. I filed it away in the “old cheese grater” that is my brain.



The third time I ran into With Arms Raised was by sheer coincidence. I had the absolute honor of emceeing a Lola Black show at the Gothic Theater and With Arms Raised was the opener. All I can say is With Arms Raised has the look, the intensity, the talent, and the skill to become a Punk powerhouse on the national scene. They were so good I forgot to take pictures during their set. I just rocked out. You need to see this band perform live. No really – you do.

P.S.: The 2nd time I ran into With Arms Raised was just by some weird coincidence at a birthday party and that's when I saw the Storm Trooper jacket – total uber-geekness.
