"Austin Live Weekly (Free Week Edition)"

Vegatron, Mohawk
"Loud, abrasive, thunderous, and pretty much everything rock and roll should be. Nothing flashy about these guys, just a no frills kick in the balls that will leave you begging for more. Imagine if Motorhead played a slower, crunchier style and you’ll have an idea about how these guys bring it." Written by James Roberts - The Horn

"Loris Lowe, Radio DJ KLBJ and KGSR (Austin, TX)"

Vegatron explode from the first note with killer riffs, snarling vocals, and lyrics that actually mean something. This three-piece is beyond tight, and may just restore your faith in rock. Headbanger-READY! - Loris Lowe

"Vegatron - Awakening"

Vegatron – Awakening (vegatron.bandcamp.com)
The mainstream would have us believe that rock ‘n’ roll is dead. As always, the mainstream can suck it. Rock ‘n’ roll is alive and well, stronger and heavier than ever. Need proof? Exhibit A: Vegatron, a power trio from Austin, Texas, comprised of vocalist/bassist Andrew Collins, guitarist Ryan Goebel, and drummer Ryan Greenblatt. On the band’s debut album, ‘Awakening’, Vegatron have taken it upon themselves to build a new spur off the fuzzed-out 70s heavy rock highway, melding elements of post-hardcore, pop-punk, melodic doom, and modern metal for a unique sound that feels unique and instantly familiar in equal measure. Not to be missed. The Impaler @impalerspeaks - The Impaler Speaks

"Review of Vegatron's Album Awakening"

3/5 stars from Austin Monthly who said: “The debut from punk-metal trio Vegatron is as dense as the Earth’s core, from the Metropolis- meets- Mordor cover art to the heavy, virtuosic riffage within. It deftly straddles the smoldering punk-metal- hard rock divide (“[The Wave]” is downright catchy) and is a disc that’ll make all camps smile.” Written by Paul Carrubba - Austin Monthly

"Vegatron- Single Release Party- Mohawk"

"Generally, I prefer singing to screaming but as far as screamers go, Vegatron will show you how it's done... Opting for a no frills recording style, you'll hear an honesty in this album that so many others have left behind..." Written by Charise Sowells - The Deli Austin

Bio

Vegatron has a recognizable, yet refreshing take on hard-rock. Founding member and bassist Andrew Collins is a familiar face in the Austin music scene from his work fronting innovative metal band At All Cost and gritty electronic band LAX, the latter performing a the ACL Music Festival in 2011. Guitarist Ryan Goebel complements Vegatron's heavy sound with pocket shredding and a melodic sensibility. The driving force behind the group is Ryan Greenblatt's heavy, but steady drumming. All together, their energy is not unlike the first time you heard Nirvana or the Misfits.

Awakening was recorded locally at the Diamond Factory with Travis Bonner (Pack of Wolves, Blurry Vision, Mammoth Grinder). The bare bones philosophy behind the record is centered in rocks three basic elements: drums, bass and guitar. Vegatron deliberately moves away from the synthesizers and backing tracks so prevalent in todays music. The lyrics come from a place of truth that as Collins puts it, "observe the fallacies, ironies, and double standards from within myself, but also as a reflection of the society that we live in now." The record dives deep with subjects ranging from prescription drugs and gun trafficking to the inner desire to find happiness. Awakening combines heavy thoughts and heavy sounds with big riffs and memorable melodies. With this solid debut album, Vegatron is poised to make an impact on both the Austin and national hard-rock scene.
