Bio

Set your ears and eyes for a musical vacation as singer/songwriter/producer The Christopher Complex takes you on a musical excursion with his Funk rooted band Optimus Funk singing tunes from his previous released EP “Let’s Go” along with new tunes, such as "Pineapple Dreams" and "Cool" that are live and in your face.

Brooklyn born, bred with Southern roots, The Christopher Complex built his foundation upon elements stemming from his influences Parliament Funkadelic, James Brown, Prince, Miles Davis, just to name a few. He attributes his taste in music from his late father and uncle whom of which both listened to an array of music that introduces you to The Christopher Complex today. His music can be described as Funk to Rock your Soul

The Christopher Complex recorded and released an EP back in 2005, entitled “Let’s Go” on the independent label, RoyalStone Records, which includes the lead single “Hottie”. Not a stranger to the stage, The Christopher Complex performed his solo act over a “Hottie” instrumental track at Corneilia Street Café (Greenwich Village, Manhattan), Solomon’s Porch (Brooklyn), and a New Jersey local cable channel show. But there was a bigger picture for The Christopher Complex. While composing his songs on his keyboards, the vision was for them to be performed by a live band, thus the birth of Optimus Funk. "I created this project to be a product, a brand; something to remember. When you come to a Christopher Complex show you’re going to get your monies worth,” adds The Christopher Complex.

Optimus Funk is comprised of amazing musicians. “My philosophy in choosing musicians was that I wanted them to include themselves in the project as opposed to being just supportive of a lead singer. That’s what I asked for that’s what I got in Mark Anselm, rhythm guitarist. Mark brings so much of himself which colorizes the rhythm with his own sound without distorting the original song. Dominic Fallacaro, a wizard at keyboards and organ. On his left side, he masterfully delivers danceability, and on his right side, he extremely expresses the spirit of the songs. Travis Calvert, tenor saxophone, who composes a topping of horn melodies that add the right amount of sugar to the Funk. Brandon Reevey, tenor saxophone, fattens the horn harmonies with a sophisticated grace. And Eldon Simms, drums, dynamically pushes the groove into the pocket, at his best, drives the band to the point where the energy is , all of that while locked into what I’m doing or about to do,” The Christopher Complex explains excitedly.

The ultimate vision is to put a twist in today’s music by bringing feelings, mystery and excitement back into music and into live shows: raw energy, in your face mentality while caressing you with a smooth, yet some times gritty vocal delivery in clever lyrics. To sum it all up the production is a 3 dimensional movie…it will reach out and touch you.

Get your ticket for this excursion. The Christopher Complex and Optimus Funk will take you to another place. Let's go!
