Sonocap - Specter Realm
By GEORGE AUSTIN
From soft alternative rock to
heavy metal, and everything in
between, the band Specter Realm
plays it all.
“Our theory is we want to purge
all the bad stuff from our music,
so all you get when you hear Specter
Realm is good music,” lead vocalist
and bass guitar player Amy
Estrella said.
Specter Realm, which was
formed a year ago, consists of
Amy, Edwin Estrella on lead guitar,
Omar Diaz on drums and
backing vocals and Orlando Diaz
on rhythm guitar and backing vocals.
“It pretty much started as a jam
among a bunch of friends,” Amy
said. “We decided if we were going
to jam and record, we should
make it serious.”
The band released a 10-song
album called “Catharsis” in May
of last year. Amy said two New
Hampshire radio stations have approved
airplay for the album. Amy
calls the song “Everlasting Love,”
off the album a mainstream pure
love song that the band has been
getting good reactions to when it
is played live.
“It seems to be like a fan favorite,”
Amy said. “Every show, if we
don’t play it, we have to play it in
an encore. It gets requested by our
fans.”
In the song “Vengeful Death,”
the first verse is about how much
you love someone and the second
verse is about what you would do
if someone was untrue to you.
Specter Realm’s album is available
at ITunes, local stores and
online.
Amy said she does not like to
name musical influences. She said
the members of Specter Realm
pride themselves on diversity.
Some of the bands they listen to
include Metallica, Dream Theater,
Iron Maiden and Evanescence.
Edwin likes playing everything
from an acoustic guitar solo to a
real heavy metal song.
“We like all types of music and
we don’t like to be monotonous,”
Amy said. “Also, we want to be able
to give something to every audience.
We have fans that are 12, 13
years old, to 50 years old. Off of
that, we want a broader spectrum
of fans.”
Amy and Edwin, who are husband
and wife, started the band.
Omar and Orlando are brothers.
Amy said everyone gets along well
in Specter Realm. She said the
band members are able to avoid
a lot of uncomfortable situations,
because they are not just bandmates,
but family. Specter Realm
has played in Lowell, Mass.,
Hampton Beach, N.H., Lawrence,
Mass. and Methuen, Mass. Amy
said the band likes to give back
to people and play at benefits.
Specter Realm played at the Pain
for Peace Festival in Lowell to stop
violence in communities. Amy is a
teacher, Omar and Orlando work
in a music store and Edwin is a
music instructor. They are all from
Lawrence and are in their 20s.
“Our goal is probably the same
as any other band,” Amy said. “We
want to make it. We want to make
it at least as full-time musicians
and do what we love to do.”

Bio
Specter Realm started about one year ago as a serious project meant to go somewhere! Since the start of the band, we have cycled through various drummers and rythm guitarists until we formed the band we are today! When Omar joined the band in September, Specter Realm was complete, we started recording our album ! Our first full length album "Catharsis" was completed in Feb 2008, and the scheduled release date is May 17, 2008!
After completion of the album recording, Eric left the band and Omar took over on the drums! His brother Orlando joined the band as the rhythm guitarist and we are now going forward at full speed!!!!
Our fusion of styles makes us unique! You never know what you will hear from us next! We love having the versatility to play anything and the creativity to compose truly unique songs and sounds.
