The two-day conference commenced at downtown NYC nightspot SOB last Wednesday night with an independent artist showcase featuring the nation’s top up-and-coming talent within both Latin hip hop and reggaetón. Hosted by Boy Wonder (the spearhead of the successful “Chosen Few” reggaetón compilation), newcomers like Brooklyn-based collective Mala Cara Muzik got some burn in front of label executives from Urban Box Office, Machete Records, VI Music, etc. right The next day, events took place at midtown lounge LQ with a series of panel discussions ranging in various topics: dialogue went from the digital revolution and how it affects the marketplace, to actually pinpointing what defines an “urban Latino”. Ebro Darden, Programming Director at New York hip hop radio station HOT 97.1FM, believes that “urban Latino music has always been in the fabric of black music and it will be forever. The mainstream music marketplace is open to great music. Not all music is for everyone.” Rich Isaacson, co-founder of LRC, describes the initial role of the two-day function to heighten awareness of a “cross- culturalism that is broadening the reality of popular culture.” And indeed, it did. Movers and shakers from within the media, record labels, and marketing companies had a rare opportunity to step out of the office and bring any issues concerning the industry to the forefront. Discussions ranged from the creation of MTV Tr3s (MTV’s channel targeting young and acculturated Latinos) to how to increase support from Hispanic media to unsigned artists and the role they play within the budding genre. Amongst those in the building were poetess/rapper/icon La Bruja (who moderated throughout the day), NYC underground legend Thirstin Howl III, and superstar (and newly solo) reggaetónero Zion, who described LRC as “an opportunity for [Latinos] to be bigger than hip hop, but it’s up to us. We have to continue being professional”. The day ended with a happy hour for V.I.P. guests, followed by performances from Latino A-listers Malverde, Notch, and Zion himself. Attendees and participants left content, informed, and, most importantly, with their BlackBerrys fuller.

Bio
“SIN VERGUENZA”
Born in Ponce, PR - Sin Verguenza (a.k.a Mala Cara) was raised between the towns of La Playa de Guayanilla, PR and Bushwick, Brooklyn, NY.
As with many artists, Sin Verguenza’s lyrics are inspired from real life experiences and are recited in a poetic manner with a Hip Hop style that represents the suffering and the battles in his life “pursuing the fame.” What distinguishes Sin Verguenza from many artists is his mind, most noticeable in his ability to compose his own lyrics, and the gift to execute his vision through his music.
Sin Verguenza selects rhythms that allow the symmetry of his music to blend effectively with his lyrics, capturing the attention of the listener, many of whom have expressed being able to identify with the messages in his songs. Sin Verguenza (humbly called Nino) has dedicated his talent to his music for more than fifteen years, all the while allowing his creativity to evolve.
In his upcoming debut album, “Tras La Fama”, a mixture of Reggaeton and Latin Hip Hop, he demonstrates his artistic versatility as well as his creativity as a producer. Listening to his music, his talent and passion is evident, revealing originality through its sounds and different styles.
Sin Verguenza believes that the world-wide acceptance of the Reggaeton movement has opened the doors to Latin Hip Hop artists such as himself, and many others to emerge into the industry and create new fan bases.
Sin Verguenza has collaborated with numerous artists, including Jowell and Randy “Los Mas Sueltos” on a track entitled “Mi Combo No Falla”, (famously known as “Vamos A Matarnos”). Produced by Latin Grammy winners Live Music (DJ Giann, Dexter and Mr. Greenz) “Mi Combo No Falla” continues to be a crowd favorite, filtered in over four dozen mix-tapes and widely spread throughout the Internet, becoming one of the most popular songs in the underground community.
Other collaborations on the album includes tracks with the world renowned, super producer and Reggaeton pioneer, DJ Blass (“Me Envidian” and “Naci Para Ganar"). The album also includes the hit single “Salte Pa’ Un Lao" featuring D'Mingo, famous for his collaboration on the song “Flowers for the Dead” dedicated to the late Big Pun, as well as his collaborations with Vico C, Daddy Yankee and Big Pun, to name a few.
Sin Verguenza has twice participated in the New York Puerto Rican Day Parade as an invited guest on The Connection Magazine float. Since then, he has been featured in two editions of The Connection Magazine as well as in VIBE Magazine who commented on his outstanding performance on stage at the famous S.O.B’s nightclub for the opening of the Latin Hip Hop conference.
Sin Verguenza has been recognized as a featured Spanish Hip Hop artist by HectorAlvarez.com - famous for the NYC "Batalla De Los Gallos" and was also the featured artist in the Mala Cara Muzic Tri-State Tour, a promotional tour in New York, Miami and Puerto Rico distributing T-shirts and over 50,000 mix-tapes, titled “Mala Cara Mix-Tape Vol. 1”, where Sin Verguenza collaborated with artists recognized in the underground community. It is said that no one brings as much energy to the stage as he does. The public lives and feels his rhythm as well as his lyrics.
Sin Verguenza, Mala Cara, Nino is ready to prove his talent as an artist, composer and producer in all genres. He believes that creativity and the imagination has no limit. This is Mala Cara Muzic’s Sin Verguenza.
