Hard Rock
For 2011, Rob Carlton unleashes Seven Thunders on you. The new record offers the listening audience seven brand new songs that rock hard. All tracks are instrumentals on Seven Thunders and you can really get a sense for Rob’s passion for the guitar. Rob makes it feel absolutely effortless as he shreds through each chord. You really sense a deep appreciation for rock music and for the guitar as you listen to Seven Thunders in full. Right out of the gates on the title track, the song is rockin’ steady with Carlton showing that he is a beast on the guitar. Carlton starts things up with an insane amount of energy and momentum that can not and will not be denied! Rob has the pedal to the metal early on and he continues to accelerate all the way through with no signs of stopping or breaking. Rob is simply on fire as his guitar is literally catching flames which can not be contained. Track five, "Regeneration", is a perfect example of this where Rob just goes off and tears it up nicely. Rob’s a bad man when he has a guitar at his side; the stringed instrument seems to give him super strength and power. Instrumental Guitar (Electric (Heavy)/Hard Rock), total running time, 27:52
- GUITAR NINE RECORDS
(No Label) Hailing from East Stroudsburg PA, Rob Carlton is a guitar playing machine! His third release, Seven Thunders is an instrumental rock and roll experience, delivering hard-hitting numbers, scaled down ballads and a nice fluent blend of bent strings to fill the gaps. Seven Thunders was recorded with Rob Carlton on lead guitar and Curt Morris on drums…that’s it. No vocals, no bass, no filler. Just straight up instrumental rock riffs that are solid enough on their own, nothing else is needed and nothing is missing. Album opener and title track “Seven Thunders” titillates your senses instantly with the technical guitar interlude followed by the well-timed beats. Carlton does a good job of making his guitar sing and it’s easy to follow him on this ride. Track 2, “Reconcile” slows things down a notch, offering the listener time to wrap their head around its predecessor powerhouse track, “Seven Thunders”. “Reconcile” is short and sweet and has an interesting introspective vibe. Things are quickly kicked back into gear with the next two heavy hitters, “I Know What it Feels Like” and “Black Jack”. Again, armed with his stringed weapon, Rob unleashes an arsenal attack so precise and calculated, yet filled to the brim with heart and soul. You’re left feeling inspired to pick up your guitar and attempt to match his genius. The sixth track, “Circles” is a nice acoustic surprise, highlighting Carlton’s depth and range. Bonus track and album closer, “Unfinished Business” brings the CD full circle and delivers a diversified mix of styles with one constant, Carlton’s stellar musicianship. With seven songs strong, Seven Thunders is a well thought out third release, showcasing Rob’s extraordinary guitar playing ability. If you’re into wailing guitar solos, Hendrix or the likes, I would recommend adding Seven Thunders to your collection and keep in mind “thunder” IS the sound lightning makes! Rob Carlton Interview
Interviewing Rob Carlton
Sanaz: I have the pleasure of interviewing Rob Carlton today. A solo artist with some great music. When did you start playing guitar Rob?
Hi Sanaz, it's great to be talking to you today. I started playing guitar at the young age of 12 in Long Island, NY. My parents started me on lessons, but I was so enthusiastic about guitar I'd go off on my own and create original music. I used to have a old Red Stella acoustic guitar. It was a piece of crap, but I wish I still had it as a memento. I used to play it til my fingers bled.
Sanaz: Who are your top influences?
My very top influence is Jimi Hendrix. People have compared me to him in reviews and in person after live performances. Other great players who influence me are: Jimmy Page, Randy Rhodes, Peter Frampton, Robin Trower, Eddie Van Halen & Zakk Wylde. At a very young age, I was influenced by the distortion sounds Black Sabbath got in their recordings & as a guitar player that also inspired me.
Sanaz: Tell us about your new album ,SEVEN THUNDERS, and what are the inspirations to this CD?
Seven Thunders will be released end of March 2011. The title song, also called Seven Thunders especially was influenced by some of the sounds and styles of Jimi Hendrix. It is my homage to him. I used a Morley pedal for the wha sounds. I'm also endorsed by Morley Pedal, which is a great pedal. Some of my inspirations for this CD were to try to get some cool sounds like Joe Satriani and Eric Johnson offer and to create some awesome electric and acoustic sounds to enjoy.
Sanaz: Where can people listen to the CD and what should they expect?
The CD will be available on cdbaby, itunes, and sonicbids.com/robcarlton (2 tracks are available to hear right now on sonicbids). People can expect to hear intense instrumental shredding, high energy rock with a couple splashes of acoustic gems to give your ears a little rest.
Sanaz: You are endorsed by GHS Strings, how did you guys meet and how would you describe their relationship with you and people they work with?
Back in the day, I used to do guitar advertising with Conklin Guitars nationwide. I appeared in Guitar World and Circus Magazine. I had a heavy metal band called Empyre, which was getting a lot of attention in New York. I was using GHS Strings already and I contacted them and created a relationship with them while I was playing the clubs with Blue Oyster Cult, Zebra and Cinderella. They were interested in me, and to this day, we continue to have a great relationship and I appear on their website as a full endorsee. Through them, I've met many artists including Stevie Ray Vaughan, Robin Trower & B.B. King. By the way, I use the GHS David Gilmour strings. Those strings generate an awesome sound for me.
Sanaz: You are also involved with the "Extreme Tour". Tell us about this tour and what should people expect of it?
The Extreme Tour is an awesome experience for young and old to come see some rockin new bands. They are representing me at the Dove Awards in Nashville. I also hope to be doing a showcase in Nashville in May which will bring us to a deeper level of involvement with the Extreme Tour. I will keep everyone posted on future tour dates via facebook.com/robcarltonfans, Twitter & MySpace.
Sanaz: Have you ever worked with other people and if so, who? And are you open to working with musicians if you guys have the same goals?
Yes, Joe Bouchard, the original bass player of Blue Oyster Cult produced some of my music and I recently played with him again, opening for his band at the Sherman Theater in PA. I've also worked with Ty Tabor of King's X, he's mastered some of my solo guitar work. In more current times, I've been studying under Jimmy Brown, the Senior Editor of Guitar World Magazine. We jam on Saturdays. Some of his influences have come out on the Seven Thunders album.
I am absolutely open to working with musicians who have similar goals, if they are talented and extremely serious about what they do and put their heart into their work.
Sanaz: What should we expect in the near future from you?
April 17th 3:00-3:45pm I will be performing a guitar clinic at the Central Mass Expo Center in Fitchburg MA.
May 22-25 I'll be in Nashville participating in Extreme Tour meetings and showcase.
And I'd like to announce a scoop here:
September 11, I am playing at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. The show will be filmed for syndication on a major cable network. The show is being coordinated by Laser Dog Music and will include a full laser light show. There will be a 5 camera shoot filming the concert for a DVD release.
Sanaz: In a perfect world, what would be your dreams with your music?
My dream is to present my guitar playing to a world wide audience and to tour and release albums on a continuous basis. I want the world to enjoy listening to my music as much as - metalsanaz.com
Rob Carlton, Seven Thunders
March 17, 2011 | by Skope
2011 looks to be a great year for guitarist Rob Carlton as he was recently engaged, has a hot new album out and many exciting shows booked up! Not to mention, Carlton has also signed a new distribution deal with Musik and Film Inc/Full Entertain Music Inc (MAFFEM). And now following up his 2009 album Beautiful Collision, which I gave 5 BIG Skopes, RC unleashes ‘Seven Thunders’ on you.
The new record offers the listening audience seven brand new songs that rock hard. All instrumentals on ‘Seven Thunders’ as you can really get a sense for Rob’s passion for the guitar. Rob makes it feel absolutely effortless as he shreds through each chord. I have so much respect for Rob as a musician and for his gift that he his showcasing to the world.
You really sense a deep appreciation for rock music and for the guitar as you listen to ‘Seven Thunders’ in full. Rob Carlton proves that he has got just the right skills to pay those bills or at least I think so. Right out of the gates on the title track, the song is rockin’ steady with RC showing that he is a beast on the guitar. Carlton starts things up with an insane amount of energy & momentum that can not and will not be denied! Rob has the pedal to the metal early on and he continues to accelerate all the way through with no signs of stopping or breaking. All I can say is that Rob is simply on fire as his guitar is literally catching flames which can not be contained. Track five “Regeneration” is a perfect example of this where Rob just goes off and tears it up nicely. Rob’s a bad man when he has a guitar at his side; the stringed instrument seems to give him super strength & power.
I have to say that I really loved many of the catchy riffs Rob displayed like on “Black Jack” where your eardrums will be smiling for sure. I’d also like to mention that Rob’s backing band was great as well with the drummer Curt Morris really standing out to me. The drums & guitar were definitely on the same page and completely in sync with one another. It was also nice to hear Rob bring it down a notch on two short acoustic sets, “Reconcile” and “Circles”. The acoustic playing was just as sharp as Rob’s electric guitar strumming and that’s why I wish those two tracks were a bit longer. And as a BIG fan of acoustic guitar, I wouldn’t have minded another track in that realm. And I gotta be honest when I say that I was aching & hoping for at least three more songs to make it an even ten. Two killer electric rock numbers and one solid acoustic set added to the list and there you have it! The album ends on a fitting note with “Unfinished Business” where Rob came to play and played to conquer. Hail the victor Rob Carlton!
Here are just some of Rob’s current achievements:
-Performed with Blue Oyster Cult, Zebra and Cinderella
-Performed at GMA, CBGB’s and Sherman Theater
-ASCAP award-winning songwriter
-129 Sonicbid Gigs Booked
-Featured in Guitar World (practices with Jimmy Brown regularly who is the Senior Music Editor of GW) and Guitar Player Magazines
The title track ‘Seven Thunders’ can now be heard at radio stations all over the U.S. And Canada thanks to GRIT PR who promoted the single’s release. Rob has an awesome show coming up on April 17th which is the Guitar Clinic at Guitar Con in Fitchburg, MA. Then, toward the end of May Rob Carlton will head to Nashville for an Extreme Tour Showcase at RocketTown Club. He will also be appearing at the Fox Theater in Atlanta for a 10 year anniversary show for 9/11. Sounds like Carlton has a busy & exhilarating schedule ahead of him and all I can say is sky’s the limit! I stand by what I said already by referring to Rob as “the real deal guitar hero” and would like to add to that by saying Rob C is a rock guitar junkie.

Rob Carlton, The Real Deal Guitar Hero
Have you heard of this guitar wiz from East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania that goes by the name of Rob Carlton? If not, get ready for the blazing hot sound of RC as he excites the world with his phenomenal playing skills. Originally from Long Island, NY, this guitarist is no stranger to the music game as he has played in many bands over the years. One band in particular, Empyre, helped Rob gain more notoriety and exposure early on his career. This band had the pleasure of opening up for and touring with such acts as: Cinderella, Zebra, Blue Oyster Cult among others. Fun times for Carlton & company during those Empyre years, but the journey was far from over.
Three albums later after leaving Empyre, Rob decided to start a new band titled Sevenfold. He would go on to tour big Christian festivals such as SuperFest traveling all over the United States. From there, it was time for Rob to make some music of his own as a recording solo artist.
The first solo album recorded would be called A Time Such As This followed by Unshackled and finally Beautiful Collision. His most recent record, Beautiful Collision, was released in 2009 and offers up some of Rob Carlton’s finest work yet. On this cut, Carlton plays his guitar with such ease and precision. You can really sense that Rob was meant to pick up a guitar at the age of 12 and play on. He has a natural ability and an incredible talent that can be appreciated by millions everywhere.
Standing in the shadows of his own personal guitar idol, Jimi Hendrix, Rob has thrived at perfecting his music throughout the years. Living up to the reputation and greatness of Jimi Hendrix may not be an easy task but I would say Rob Carlton is doing a pretty damn good job in his own right. I honestly think Jimi would be proud of Rob’s accomplishments as a guitar player and I feel RC would receive a Jimi Hendrix seal of approval.
Rob is representing the instrument very well and for all you inspiring guitarists out there; you might want to take notes because this man is the real deal.
Dedication is a major factor in the life and times of Rob Carlton. When he was younger, he would play his red Stella guitar until his fingers bled for crying out loud! If that’s not dedication & commitment, then I don’t know what is! This incredible will and strife to want to do nothing else but hit those strings continues on today for Rob. This musician has such tenacity and drive when it comes to picking up his guitar and playing the hell out of it. To RC, the guitar is more than just a stringed instrument; it is a crucial part of who he is. Rob is so consumed with his trusty sidekick that in a sense he becomes one with the almighty guitar. The guitar completes him and he completes the guitar as they live happily ever after. Rob Carlton himself said it best when he stated during our interview for Skopemag.com that: "I can see myself someday like 95 sitting with a lot of guitars playing my Taylor guitar just enjoying the peace guitar can bring to you in this sometimes crazy world". This guy truly loves playing and I don’t think there is anything that can stop this intense passion. There is no holding back Carlton as he rolls forward and unleashes his insane skills for the whole wide world to hear.
Over time, RC has accomplished a lot as a music artist and also picked up some well-deserved achievements along the way. Rob has been a member of ASCAP (The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) in which he has won many awards for. Carlton has endorsement deals with: GHS Strings, Morley Pedals, Halo Guitars, Specraflex Cables and Rocktron Amps & Effects. Rob has also been featured in such magazines as: Guitar World, Guitar Player, Burn, Kerrang!, Circus & Good Times.
Rob has a 2010 tour kicking off in April in NYC at Uncle Mike’s and UC Lounge. He will also be playing at the big NAMM show in California and he "hopes to see everyone there!" A lot of excitement surrounds this artist as the Rob Carlton buzzzz is about to blow up big time. It seems that Rob’s "future’s so bright he’s just gotta wear shades!"
Rob’s very first album was titled Going All The Way and the latest release titled Beautiful Collision makes perfect sense now.
Carlton knew all along that he, his music and his guitar were going all the way to the top by way of a beautiful collision of sound, heart, devotion & determination. This all adds up to the present status of Rob Carlton blending together his rock, classic rock grooves, blues and acoustic jams. Don Henley once sang "All She Wants To Do Is Dance" and now I say All He Wants To Do Is Play…Play. If you’re not a fan already, then you surely will be after hearing the amazing solos and sensational guitar presence.
You can purchase all of Rob’s music through cdbaby.com and iTunes. There are also special deals offered exclusively through www.skopemag.com such as: The Beautiful Collision Package. This package - Rob Carlton, The Real Deal Guitar Hero

Rob Carlton, Beautiful Collision
August 24, 2009 | by Skope Staff
rcarlton_phixr
This new work by Rob Carlton is nothing short of amazing with the WOW factor in full effect. This record consists of kick-ass guitar licks and high-energy jam sessions. The new CD mixes hard rock, blues and Carlton even throws in twelve string acoustic songs. ALL instrumental with a straight rock feel from beginning to end sums up Beautiful Collision. I would also call this album Beautiful Symmetry due to its perfectly balanced flow. Symmetrical music in motion is at work here.
Originally from Long Island, Rob Carlton can be considered as one of the finest local NY artists. Carlton has been in numerous bands through the years as his love for the guitar grew stronger & stronger. Carlton got interested in the guitar and songwriting at the young age of 12. The love has definitely not diminished as Rob C. has flourished into a terrific player.
The twelve songs on Beautiful Collision are all equally impressive. I have to admit that I was blown away by Carlton’s guitar playing skills. He doesn’t just play guitar here, he is creating beautiful sounds by way of the guitar. I loved how Carlton switched between electric and acoustic sets. Rob C. is shredding away with electrifying solos with constant energy being poured into each performance. You’re hearing heavy rockin’ guitar with jams that are rockin’ the joint hard. I also noticed that Carlton’s band on the record jived perfectly with Rob’s style of playing. The drums were bringin’ the goods with solid beats while experiencing finger-pluckin’ good bass lines and the keys added a nice musical dimension to some of the tracks. It seems to me that Carlton & company were never missing a step here.
If you like to rock out and enjoy stellar guitar playing, then you will absolutely love Rob Carlton’s Beautiful Collision. The heart and precision put into this record is quite impressive. In the words of ACDC, “For those about to rock, I salute you”. And Rob Carlton, I salute you and would also like to say hell-of-a-job-well-done.
I’d like to add that Rob C. was recently featured in Guitar Player Magazine and is also endorsed by Morley Pedals, GHS Strings, Spectraflex Cables, Rocktron Effects and recently signed a deal with HALO Guitars. A national tour may also be in the works, so look out for that! For more on Rob Carlton and his new release, Beautiful Collision,
