"One Red Martian owns the Tree's Concert!"

Saturday Night October 22 was the Hawthorne Heights show at Trees in Dallas. Opening for them was a collection of local bands from the DFW area. Trees is a great venue for live music because of the layout of the stage and the viewing area for the crowd. Of all the acts that performed One Red Martian stood out above all the rest, including the headliners.

One Red Martian brought it all, a great song set, excellent crowd control, and instrumental skill that wowed the crowd again and again. This was a band that really understand how to take songs from the studio and translate them to the stage were everything is faster, louder, and more intense. One Red Martian is an amazing live band, any show they are part of is one you can’t afford to miss. - Auditory Asylum

"One Red Martian Review"

Picture this: On a hill over looking a picturesque American town sits a 60's era convertible with two kids gazing up at the stars, and playing over the radio comes the sound of One Red Martian. Listening to these guys takes you to a place were dreams are fresh and everything is possible, One Red Martian’s music is full of youthful exuberance, energy, good vibes. These guys are set to do very well on the alternative/indie scene, with their easy going slightly experimental musical style, they have the potential for massive appeal. - Auditory Asylum

"Dallas Observer Blog"

"...Songs such as "Terror", "Sly Dreamer", and "DemonDroid", are catchy, pop ditties that showcase a band that is unafraid..." - Dallas Observer

"Must See Shows by a Texas Artist"

The One Red Martian story began in rural upstate New York. That’s where brothers Jimi, Ben and Joe Woodul hooked up with longtime friend Dan DeKalb to form a band that merged eclectic, indie rock with piano melodies. The ORM guys like to call it “intensely lyrical ballad rock” or “genre-busting piano metal.”
That might be just a tad hyperbolic, but even a quick perusal of Spit My Brain , the second One Red Martin CD, and you can hear the heavy Muse influences woven into a musical ?palette informed by the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Ben Folds , Rage Against the Machine and even slices of techno-rock. The latter shines through on “DemonDroid,” a pulsating number that takes these guys into a whole different realm.
Spit My Brain, which refers to the purity and transparency of the soul according to chief songwriter Jimi Woodul, follows 2008’s Studio Dog Sessions, an album recorded on loaned equipment in the guys’ high school music room. One other thing to know about ORM — the members are quite young. The oldest is merely 21. But that prominent piano, played by DeKalb, truly gives the group’s sound a dose of maturity.
Relocating to Dallas in 2008, the Woodul siblings and DeKalb didn’t waste time entrenching themselves. Spit My Brain was recorded over a 10-day period in Dallas and Fort Worth. It was released earlier this year. Since then, the One Red Martian boys haven’t stopped touring. - Dallas Morning News

"New Music Critiques"

"...Their strongest outing, "Sly Dreamer," an upbeat, melodic, midtempo tune with a solid chorus..." - Music Connection

"Another Great Review - PDF Available upon Request"

"One Red Martian has a sound that is unique in a music world that has become far too generic. The piano sounds, which often take the lead, set their music apart from other similar groups, showing their true musicianship and not the "pop Flash" that so many bands are going for these days"

Bio

One Red Martian is one of the most electrifying and eclectic bands to emerge from the Dallas music scene in years. Combining raw, cutting lyrics with genre busting piano rock and intense melodies, the four-piece group has a sound unlike any other.

Brothers, Ben, Jimi and Joe Woodul, along with childhood friend Dan DeKalb, grew up in Upstate New York where they first began crafting songs in early 2004. Each member adds unique flavor to the sound, resulting in remarkable synergy. After relocating to Dallas in the summer of 2008, the band became an exciting new sound on the Dallas rock scene and quickly developed a loyal following.

One Red Martians debut album Spit My Brain, released in January of 2011, garnered rave reviews and showcases the bands edgy songwriting and musicianship. Cuts from the album have received airplay on college radio both regionally and nationally. By constantly touring and playing festivals, such as South by Southwest, they are expanding their following and refining an intensely passionate live performance. This band demands to be heard.
