" just submitted my FAR #92 voting and the Not Quite Nashville CD was my TOP pick for the month of March 2007. The mix of rock and roots music a great fit for my show as well as some other shows here at the station. It is a solid effort and impressive for a debut CD! There must be something in the water out there in MO (the Bottle Rockets are a long-time top band on my show...). I hope to hear more from those guys and they will continue to get strong airplay in the weeks to come!"...

"A great band name can be many different things but it definitely should be memorable and when pondering recent band names that have stumbled into our world recently Not Quite Nashville is one that comes to mind. Making St. Louis home base, Not Quite Nashville couldn't have chosen a more perfect name. Nashville is still the country music capital and while there is some "twang" in Not Quite Nashville's music, their sound incorporates just as much rock and blues as country. Some good ol' music that sounds as good in cars as it does in the bars. This was indeed a great show. Opening act Not Quite Nashville did a fine job, they sound kinda like the Rainmakers crossed with the Outlaws minus any guitar heroics. Their original songs are energetic with strong vocal harmonies, and they also covered Nick Lowe and Alehandro Escovedo. - Fan Comments from the Webb Wilder message Board 4-14-07

From the first time you hear Not Quite Nashville you get the joke; NQN, as their fans refer to them, is not what most would consider country music. With a focus on classic vocal harmonies mixed with solid songwriting and performances, Not Quite Nashville instead incorporates the various elements of Rock, Blues and Country to create a fresh yet seemingly familiar sound.
Through their steady and energetic live performances, Not Quite Nashville honed an impressive set of material which culminated in the recording and release of their self titled debut CD.
The twelve songs that make up the CD create a unique blend that swerves from the straight ahead rock of Louisiana Girl, into the alt country leanings of Welcome Home Old Friend and A Hit Song, over the median power pop undercurrents of "Broken Pieces Fall Into Place" and World Full of Beautiful Women, and back again without ever becoming a car wreck. To the contrary, the result is a very cohesive set of heartfelt and memorable songs that covers a wide slice of American music. The self released debut CD continues to do very well on the Americana charts rising as high as #76 as of April 2, 2007.
With their debut release hitting the charts, the band has been working hard at expanding their fan base. We feel really good about the CD and want to play these songs live as much as possible commented vocalist / bassist Paul Stephens during a recent visit with the members of the band. Drummer Robert Roewe added, We had such a good time in the studio making these recordings and that spirit carries over into our live show. We are just having a lot of fun on stage each time that we perform.
Not Quite Nashvilles debut arrives just as country rock makes its most recent comeback. While Not Quite Nashvilles debut more than delivers in that format, one cant help but notice that NQNs unique vision and musical direction has set a course that is free to evolve and expand wherever the songs lead. Drummer Robert Roewe summed it up by stating, Our success has always been based on a song being great as opposed to a strictly defined format. Thats what makes it fun and interesting to us and our fans.
