Summary

The High Land Jam will be August 23-26, 2012 (the weekend before labor day) and is one of the best small jam band festivals anywhere. Genres include jam bands, blues, jazz, alternative, bluegrass and solo acts. Selected bands are given 20 tickets to sell at $40/each and keep the proceeds as compensation. The festival is held on a 40-acre farm near Elkins, WV with two permanent stages, professional sound/lights, on-stage monitor engineer, two sound companies, and a hospitality barn.

Past performers include Vince Welnick, Perpetual Groove, The Recipe, Peter Tork, Bone Pony, ZEN, The Almighty Senators, GUTA, The Davisson Brothers and many other great musicians. Last year, High Land Jam chose over 50% of its lineup from Sonicbids. Their mission is to take really good, but relatively unknown, artists and give them a great opportunity to network with other musicians.

The festival requires bands to spend the entire weekend at the festival. This is not a "come play and leave right away" type of festival. They have a great hospitality barn for artists and camping for 6,000, including a very clean shower house.

The High Land Jam is held every year in late summer at the Pegasus Farm Campground in Elkins, West Virginia.Elkins is a medium-sized rural community located in the Tygart River Valley. It is the Randolph County seat and the center of services for the surrounding counties.The Pegasus Farm is an ideal setting. Although just five minutes from town and the conveniences you need, the Farm is totally isolated. It is located in the center of the Tygart Valley — to the west is the highest mountain chain east of the Rockies (the Laurel and Rich Mountains, both over 4,000 feet high); to the east, rolling hills that lead into town, and eventually to another mountain chain, again over 4,000 feet in elevation. From the center of the campground, you can see all the mountains all around you! The southern and northern boundaries are marked with a quiet, clear-water run and the deep waters of Chenoweth Creek, a very large creek that empties into the Tygart River. On the other side of these waterways are hundreds of acres of pasture land and cornfields.The Pegasus Farm is a fully developed campground, complete with bathhouse, indoor toilets, developed campsites, water and electric hookup sites, and full-hookups for RVs. This development has changed the structure of the ticket prices which are listed on the Tickets page. Rustic camping is still available in the area we call "the lower 20". It's the land across the railroad tracks that offers lots of space to camp and roam, a new pond, and some forest land.OTHER STUFFNot to mention the two covered outdoor stages, over 15 bands, and good times, family area available.
