Bio

Headstash merges the continuous mixing style of a DJ with the exhilarating unpredictability of an improvisationally-based live band. Under the umbrella of Improvisation, each Headstash show is deeply determined by the degree of reciprocating energy generated by the audience - which the band invariably captures, channels, and then redirects. This exchange strongly influences the band's musical explorations throughout any given segue; from Deep Space Disco-Funk to Smooth Acid Jazz, Progressive House to Trip-Hop and Dub, or DnB to dark, dirty, high-octane Trance.

Their electrifying sound envelopes listeners with warm analog synthesizers and screaming Moog leads over acidic arpeggios produced and looped on-the-fly, backed by counterpoint and textured poly-rhythms that only a live drummer and bassist can provide. Additional loop sequencer software is incorporated to build layers of improvisation that segue their incomparable compositions, adding another dimension to the refreshingly eclectic sound.

This concise formula is turning heads and has earned the group performances at The Disco Biscuit's 10th Annual Camp Bisco, Papadosio's Rootwire Festival, The Werkout, Dexfest I & II, Mayflower Fest at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park, Terrapin Hill Harvest Festival, as well as opening sets for some of their most admired ensembles like Conspirator, Big Gigantic, Papadosio, and The Werks.

Based in Lexington, Kentucky, Headstash desires to share their art with receptive audiences across the U.S., hoping the positivity and illumination generated through the music is recycled back into their lives and into their Communities. Catch Headstash this Fall and see for yourself why Camp Bisco has them listed among the up-and-coming "Must See" acts in the nation.
