Bio
FUNEBRE (Mournful; suitable for a funeral. Italian,French,Spanish) In order to understand how Funebre came about, we have to go back to the year 2000. Funebre went through significant changes between 2000 and 2003, morphing from a male dominated metal noise to its current melodic goth sound. Funebre began their journey in San Jose, California, way back in the late 90’s early 2000 when teenage Baruch S. Fabbri was asked to contribute guitar to a born idea of the band by its founding members, Rodrigo Khadaver and Esdras Cervantes. Rodrigo eventually abandoned the band altogether with the rest of the band members, leaving Baruch the band's name and the task of picking up where it ended. And so he did. Baruch originally planned for Funebre to be a one-man band, but eventually he began to recruit new members. Even at this early stage, Funebre was developing a sound entirely of its own: a darkly neo-classical combination of death metal and more subtle, melodic and acoustic elements that manifest themselves in elaborate melancholic love and death songs which exude imagination, invention and class. Funebre now collaborates with session musicians whenever there is a major event. Of course a full line up exists and consists of Baruch S.Fabbri, Deborah Delly, Bert Stewart, Taylor Fu and Jesse Flores. Since the beginning, Funebre has had the pleasure to share the stage with numerous bands from all over the world. Funebre started as an opening act and climbed its way to supporting act, co-headliner and finally headliner. No matter the situation, Funebre continues to play regardless of their set position. Several demo CD’s have been recorded since 2000 and have been distributed in the US and Mexico. In 2006 a new demo was recorded and is still being worked on in promotion of the upcoming CD. We hope that this new CD will be released to the whole world.
