Austin’s Flatcar Rattlers describe themselves as “guerrilla bluegrass”. Special thanks to the band for allowing me to post Hazard, an absolutely beautiful song. I hope they don’t tire of Hazard any time soon, because they’ll probably be playing for years to come.

If you're gonna check out any of these folks, make it Dustin Welch, Justin Townes Earle and Joe Pug. They're all kind of at a similar point in their careers where very good things are going to happen for them / to them soon. Make no mistake, all of these artists are worth your time but a few of them don't have records out yet so just be patient and go see them live.

The Flatcar Rattlers, a local group who formed about a year ago, opened the celebration on a high-energy note with a set of songster punk, uncorking a moonshine-laced attack that sounded as if it was conceived in a room somewhere in the North Carolina Appalachians, between a washtub bass and a stack of records by Hank Williams and the Clash.

Ain’t nothin’ wrong with a little grime in your bluegrass, kids. The Flatcar Rattlers keep it rough, raw and edgy - and it sounds great that way...Perhaps one good way to describe the stage presence and great performances of The Flatcar Rattlers would be…hardcore bluegrass, maybe? That’d one mild way of putting it. This is genuine bluegrass with true grit, unpolished and wild, and guaranteed to give you a damn good time. - KUT

Bio
Chock-full of piss and fire, these boys hammer out a nasty form of Bluegrass and outlaw country known as Guerilla Grass. With seven members from six states, this bunch of ramblers eventually made camp in Austin, TX. Their high octane live shows have created a nice buzz in a short time, sharing billings with The Gourds, Hot Club of Cowtown, Bob Schneider, The South Austin Jug Band, Micky and the Motorcars, Larry Keel and Natural Bridge, The Lost Pines, American Graveyard, The Beaumonts, The Lonesome Heroes, and many many more.
Flatcar Rattlers have rattled the walls of fine Music Institutions such as these:
