PLAY: Sofar Sounds Boston (Winter 2015)

Sofar Boston is reserving at least 1 slot for Sonicbids artists at an upcoming show. Artists will receive a % of donations as well as fully mixed audio files from their whole set, and a hi-definition video of one song from their performance.

Sofar Sounds started in London in 2009 and is now in over 80 cities across the world. The beauty of Sofar is its secrecy and exclusivity which brings together a room full of people who are wanting to discover new music. Guests don't know the exact location of the gig until the day before and they have no idea who is performing until they show up.

This creates an audience of diehard music fans and makes for an intimate listening room environment. Since the shows are secret, bands don't need to leverage their draw or market the show and they get to play to an audience full of completely attentive music fans.

Three artists perform at each Sofar Boston show and attendance ranges from 50-120 people depending on capacity.

• Artists must play original music
• Sets are stripped down, but don't necessarily have to be fully acoustic

Details:

• Load-in for shows typically begins around 6pm unless otherwise noted
• Sets are 20-25 minutes per act
• A small PA setup, plus vocal and room mics are provided
• In-house sound and lighting engineers are provided

• Sofar shows are all donation based and the tips collected at each show are divided equally between the performers and the crews who are volunteering their time
• Artists receive fully mixed audio of their whole performance
• Sofar creates one high-quality video for each performer which is then posted on the Sofar Sounds global YouTube channel
• Artists are able to sell merch on-site
