Swizzle Steve Presents is looking for 10 Sonicbids bands to develop residencies in Chicago beginning in January 2015. Selected acts will be compensated a percentage of the door.
The Opportunity
Steve Krok “Swizzle Steve” has been booking shows since the late 90s, and currently books Chicago venues such as the House of Blues, Double Door, Metro, Hard Rock Cafe, Subterranean, Cubby Bear, Goose Island Wrigleyville, The Original Mothers, The Tonic Room, Beat Kitchen, Lincoln Hall and more. Swizzle Steve Presents is looking for bands to play Mother's.
Since 1968, The Original Mother’s has been a Chicago favorite, offering live music and events in a 400-cap space. In their earliest days, the venue hosted bands such as Chicago, Cream, The Mekons, and The Velvet Underground. It has also been featured in many movies, immortalized in the 1986 classic About Last Night with Rob Lowe and Demi Moore.

Black Japan, The Chimpz, Authors and Audio, Awake at Last, Josh Bryant Outfit
The Band
- Must be age 21+
- Preferred genres include reggae, funk, 90's tribute and rock
- Most genres welcome except metal and hip hop
- Local, regional and national acts are welcome, but all must be able to draw at least 30+ in Chicago to be considered
The Gig
Details:
- Monthly or bi-monthly shows booked at Mother's
- Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays
- Time slots from 8pm - 12:30am
- 30 - 90 minute sets depending on band's draw
- 3 bands per night
- Sound and lights provided
- No backline
- Selected acts receive 100% of the door after the first $50 earned
- Selected acts will receive drink tickets
- May sell merch on site and keep 100% artist sales
- Selected acts may have a small guest list
- Swizzle Steve Presents partners with DO 312 to offer buy-one-get-one free tickets online
