Summary
Sonicbids artist Brooklyn Doran has slots for 15 Sonicbids bands to be part of her grassroots winter music contest. Selected acts will receive exposure and a prize package valued at $300.
The Opportunity
Sonicbids artist Brooklyn Doran, a folk singer/songwriter from Ontario, is launching a grassroots winter music contest for both bands and their fans. This contest will promote Doran’s music video for “There’s A Light On,” and all of the participating acts as well.
Participating acts will submit at least one item of merch to be part of the contest giveaway for fans. All merch items will be staged and photographed as the official contest photo, which will be posted on the Brooklyn Doran Music Facebook page along with contest rules. Both bands and fans will share the contest photo to win!
By nature of the contest, all participating acts will have their music exposed to the fan base of every other artist involved. By voting for their favorite band on social media, fans enter for a chance to win a giveaway that includes merch from all of the bands.
The Band
- Open to solo artists and bands in the US and Canada
- Must have official artist or band Facebook page, Instagram and Twitter accounts to participate
- Must be a serious artist with good quality recordings
- Must be willing to participate in the contest and share on social media
The Gig
Details:
- Each selected act will be asked to submit at least one item of merch by December 20th
- Each selected act must share and promote the contest photo on social media
- Fan voting (tagging) on social media takes place January 1-31st, 2015
- The band winner and music fan winner will be announced on the Brooklyn Doran Music Facebook page at the end of the contest
- One fan will win the prize package and receive a $300 value in merchandise
- The act with the most tags, shares and comments for the contest is the winner
- The winning act will receive $200 towards a music video with Toronto filmmakers Kyle Marchen and Van Wickiam
- The winning act will receive $100 towards hair/makeup/wardrobe booking with Toronto makeup artist and stylist Vera Kostiuk
Terms And Conditions
- If selected, artist or band agrees to send at least one item of merch by December 20th, 2014. Appropriate merch includes but is not limited to CDs, download cards, t-shirts, etc. Merch
must have the bands name on it and be identifiable as the bands material. - If selected artist or band is from outside of Toronto, we will provide a mailing address for you to submit materials to
- If selected, artist or band agrees to participate in the contest by sharing the photograph for the contest on your social media accounts, including but not limited to official artist or band Facebook pages, Twitter accounts and Instagram accounts
- Fans will vote for their favorite band by posting, tagging, sharing and commenting on social media posts. All votes will be tracked through Brooklyn Dorans social media analytics by tracking official band or artist tags and official contest hashtags.
- All participating fans will enter a raffle and the winner will be drawn at random. The winner will receive the merch prize package containing all the merch from the bands in the contest, valued at $300.
- Fans can enter up to 4 ways: 1) Share the contest photograph on their Facebook timeline, 2) Comment on the contest photograph, tagging favorite band, 3) Instagram the contest photograph with the hashtag #theresalighton and tagging favorite band, 4) Tweet the contest photograph with the hashtag #theresalighton and tagging favorite band
