"Feijoada Makes the Most of Limited Time"

Posted by Matt Cuthbert June 16, 2008 12:26 PM

This year at City Stages, the Homegrown stage returned to its old spot directly across from the Miller stage. The upside to this arrangement is that there's never any "dead air" -- as soon as one act finishes, another can start right up on the nearby stage -- and all people have to do is turn around and walk a few steps. In all liklihood, it brings more people to the Homegrown stage. On the other hand, the downside is that when one act runs over its alloted time, the act on the other stage can't begin.

That's what happened to the guys from Feijoada. They waited patiently for Monte Montgomery to finsh, but when his act finally ended, Feijoada had little time left to perform and had to cut their own set to a mere three songs.

They made the most of it though, and the audience seemed to appreciate the small taste they got.

Bio

Feijoada (fay-jwa-duh) started with a trio of music students from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The sound is funk...groove...rock...blues and all things spicy. The band is five permanent members strong with a rotating keyboard stool. Feijoada will stroke your brain, caress your booty, and slap the @!$% out ya!
