During a recruiting event at the Daytona Beach Bandshell Wednesday evening, NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Florida Army National Guard Soldiers unveiled a special paint scheme on the No. 88 Chevrolet that he will drive during the upcoming Coke Zero 400 race.
The black and digital camouflage race car was unveiled during the National Guard’s Battle of the Bands event, drawing hundreds of screaming fans hoping to get a glimpse of Earnhardt with his “ride” for Saturday’s race.
The free Battle of the Bands event was open to the public, and also featured a VIP autograph session with Earnhardt, information about National Guard opportunities, NASCAR souvenir giveaways and a competition between three local Florida bands. Michael Allman, the oldest son of legendary rocker and former Daytona Beach resident Gregg Allman, apparently has learned a thing or two from dear ol' dad.
Michael Allman & the Bone Dogs will headline a free Biketoberfest concert from 6 to 10 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Bandshell, behind the Ocean Walk Shoppes, 250 N. Atlantic Ave., Daytona Beach. The concert will serve as a CD release party for Allman's new album, "Hard Labor Creek."
According to Allman's MySpace bio, he was born in Daytona Beach and he led a band for most of the 1990s before giving up on music. He was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2002. After a full recovery, he decided to pursue music again.
The concert also will include the Los Angeles female rock band Riot Brides, featuring former VH1 and MTV veejay Abby Gennet, plus area rock bands EvilPretty and Nickoloff. - Go386 - www.go386.com

evilpretty has also had several big accomplishments for their short time together, including winning the Daytona's Got Talent Battle of the Bands in February 2009, as well as overall winner out of 300+ band entries of the National Guard/Dale Earnhardt Jr Battle of the Bands in July 2009. evilpretty has also opened for several national acts, and have many future gig's booked throughout the end of the year.
