Survivor Gregory J. Bennett aka 'Greg “Fonkmaster” B' is back with a BANG after surviving the devastation and aftermath of Hurricane Katrina during the late summer of ‘2005 in New Orleans, LA. With his new project entitled ‘Funky Urban Nights‘, Gregory takes on a new brand called “Fonkmaster” to help bolster his addictive arsenal of urban and dance/funk laced grooves. ‘Funky Urban Nights’ is getting rave reviews from the preliminary feedback of industry insiders. This new brand of music can also be heard on the soundtrack of the highly anticipated film, ‘Cain and Abel’ of Mercury Rising Films, distributed by Maverick Entertainment.
As The Fonkmaster, Gregory is an award-winning innovator of funkafied electro urban grooves with pop sensibilities. He is a creative force bringing his special brand of contemporary and old school funk to the masses. His entry into the mobile music industry has been extremely successful, as he generated sales of over a 1000 ringtones per month in ‘2006. Some of Gregory’s instrumental tracks have been licensed to cable TV programming on VH-1, MTV, The Food Network, HGTV, The E Channel and the Weather Channel, just to name a few. He can also be heard on music-on-hold applications and Muzak. Gregory also received the Listen and Exchange Award for being one of the Top 10 indie producers in 2003.

After being on the road in the 80's as an opening act for major recording artist, Rufus, featuring
Chaka Khan, Gregory J. Bennett released his first self-produced single entitled 'Jamblaster Rock'. This dance/funk single became a regional success.
'Number One Saints Fan': The single also became a hit when the New Orleans Saints finally went to the playoffs in the late 80's.
'I Am The One' & 'Mellow G': In the early 90's, these two tracks were licensed to a Cable TV show called ' Outward Bound' on the Discovery Channel.
'Back To The Essence': This hiphop/dance Ep was another self-produced project that was a hit with club Djs and record pools during the mid-90's.
'Holdin' On': An r&b Lp that became a regional jukebox hit in the mid to the late 90's.
'Funk Me Up!' & 'Let Your Body Talk': 2 funky dance singles that landed in the top40 of the College Radio Charts by the year 2000.
'Keep It Movin': By 2001, this hiphop single landed in a video game by Gekido Designs.
'Killerbytes' & ' Let's Swing Tonight': An orchestral and jazz track that was licensed to an Australian sound company for music-on-hold applications in late 2003 to late 2004.
'Play Wit Me' & 'I Like It Like That': 2 sexy urban tracks from the Love Sexy Lp that sold well as ringtones, ringback tones and voicetones.

Greg "Fonkmaster" B is an award-winning innovator of funkafied dance and urban grooves with smooth and progressive jazz sensibilities. Among some of his most recent accomplishments, having a positive impact in this ever-changing entertainment industry has been his primary focus. One of Greg's goals is to gain recognition within the video game industry. Recently, he was fortunate enough to land one of his amazing orchestral tracks on the I Saw You On TV Records, 'Video Game Composers Vol 1' CD. Also recently, Greg provided music to the TV advertisements for the Ronzio law firm on channel KRCA in Los Angeles. His entry into the mobile music industry has been successful as he secured mobile music licensing and distribution deals with a couple of mobile entertainment companies. His master ringtones and ringback tones have garnered surprisily respectable sales per quarter. Some of Gregory's instrumental tracks have been licensed to cable TV programming(most recently on VH-1, MTV, The Food Network, HGTV, BET, HBO and E!, just to name a few.), music-on-hold applications and Muzak. His music can also be heard on the soundtrack of the highly anticipated film entitled 'Cain and Abel' by Mercury Rising Films. In 2003, Gregory was named "One Of The Top20 Indie Composer/producers" at the Listen & Exchange Awards.
As a performing musician from the late 70's to the early 90's and currently as a composer/producer, Gregory has taken everything from r&b to pop,
from jazz to hiphop, from easy listening to orchestral music and melded all of these flavas into a delightful synthesis of sensuous, seductive and provocative gumbo.
Some of my early influences included; Sly and the Family Stone, Parliament/Funkadelic, Kraftwerk, Earth Wind & Fire, Grover Washington, Billy Cobham, Herbie Hancock, just to name a few.
I am similar to a diverse mix of artists like; Soulive, Pieces of a Dream, Prince, Jungle Brothers, Chromeo, Black Eyed Peas, Head Hunters, Moby, George Duke, just to name a few.
