Katie Locke is an artist who I had interviewed a couple of years ago and I really dug her tunes. Now we are reviewing her release "Works For Me": it's a combo of gritty jazz and guitar-pop that's exciting, fresh, and a joy to listen to. The album has catchy upbeat tunes like "Perfect Hue" and "Alabaster Stone" which show off Katie's vibrant and powerful voice, her excellent songwriting skills and the musicianship of the band. Then there are the ballads which prove that she is capable of doing not only upbeat but also slow numbers to show off the diversity of her talents. The product values are solid and make what already is a good listening experience a joyful one. The musicianship throughout is solid and I for one can't wait to hear what she puts out next. Top Stuff!

Bio
If you could pick up Boston’s collegiate mind and run it through New York City’s gritty streets while picking up some New Orleans Gumbo and Texas BBQ, you might just find yourself in the middle of a Katie Locke and Bullet Proof Tiger show. Since the group’s inception in the fall of 2008, Ms. Locke and the Tiger have been hard at work thinking and creating to bring you a fresh palette of sound that combines cerebrally organized songs and sophisticated melodies with organic groove and soul. Armed with a musical education that could put any College of Music out of business, and enough life stories for a hit reality show, these five kids are remembering what writing real music is all about.
