Bio
THE SURFTONES formed in 1980 and became Southern California's original, and most authentic 60's band. KERRY CHESTER and RICK LINDLEY were playing in Hollywood in the 'THE DOLPHINS' doing all original tunes and chasing a major record deal. THE DOLPHINS were one of the "house bands" at The Whisky A Go-Go and The Starwood, and played those clubs and others like The Troubador on a weekly basis, opening for acts like 'Motley Crue', 'Quiet Riot' and other headliners during the late 70's.
We were performing a song on stage called "Eddie & The Surftones" that we had written about a local Surf Band making good, and then one day....... we became that band! The name was loosely based on the 60's Surf Band 'Dave Meyers & the Surftones'. A year later we dropped Eddie from the name and became 'THE SURFTONES', the band you know and love today. Since a crop of "new" bands have popped up recently using the Surftone name, The Tones decided to change their name to 'KERRY & THE SURFTONES' so their fans & clients would know they are getting the "Real" SURFTONES.
Since the early days in 1980, KERRY & THE SURFTONES have grown into one of the most sought after and recognizable Surf Bands in Southern California. Offering not only all the Instro Surf Songs from A to Z as well as 60's Classics from Chuck Berry to Jimi Hendrix and The Doors, KERRY & THE SURFTONES are now best known for their re-creation of the Vocal Surf Songs from the Beach Boys, Jan & Dean and others. There are only a handful of bands in the U.S.A. who can perform those complex harmonies on stage and most won't even attempt songs like "Good Vibrations".
THE SURFTONES can perform as the 'WAVE MACHINE' Single or Duo (all Instro Surf Classics), 'KERRY & THE SURFTONES' Duo, Trio (Classic 60's and Instro Surf), Quartet, Quintet, or full six piece lineup or, 'KERRY & THE SURFTONES 60's DANCE PARTY' with a songlist of over 300 60's & early 70's Classic Rock songs (something for everybody).
Over the last 20 years KERRY & THE SURFTONES have played hundreds of concerts for Cities, at Piers, and Parks, large and small venues, as well as a myriad of corporate events all over California.
With the addition of their newest members, JON STATHAM (who really sounds like Brian Wilson) and EDDIE KEATING (well known singer & player in So Cal), original members, KERRY CHESTER (Keyboard, Guitar & Vocals), RICK LINDLEY (Drums & Vocals), MATT QUILTER (Guitar & Vocals), and DAVID McCULLOCH (Bass & Vocals) have the most tried and tested Vocal & Instro Surf Band in Southern California with almost three decades of history together!
Some of the songs you might hear at a KERRY & THE SURFTONES show...Surfin' USA, In My Room, Dead Man's Curve, Surfer Girl, I Get Around, Little Duece Coup, Miserlou, Wipe Out, Surfer Joe, California Girls, 409, Fun Fun Fun, Good Vibrations, Help me Rhonda, Pipeline, Walk Don't Run, Sidewalk Surfin', Surf City, Ghost Riders in the Sky, Apache, Secret Agent Man, Sail On Sailor, Barbara Ann, Surfin' Safari, Surfin', Surf Beat, Let's Go Trippin', Little Honda, California Sun, Don't Worry Baby & many many more.
