Wow, KRS One's "Emceez Act Like They Don't Know" just came began on UNDERGROUNDHIPHOP.com's Old School Channel. Beautiful. It might just be a Boogie Down Friday. Speaking of old school, big armfuls of props and praise to the boys at SUPERSTARDJS.org and Fat Laces Radio. Wow, they put on a nice set. pics coming soon--SXSW came and went again, and as busy and hectic as it was , it was equally awesome.
We coordinated the Blackilicious/Cut Chemist show at a great art house, turned some heads, released a new line of shirts---Big ups to all the artists that were a part of this , as it has already springboarded us to greater opportunities.
Additionally we did the damn thing at Motive 807 with the GET UP art opening, thanks to the Superstar DJ's who presented the open turntable fiasco known as the Sqratch Karnival--shit was ill, as well as great performances by Group Therapy, V-Zilla, and Savvi--thanks to all that came out...and if you missed it , be sure to drop into the store (710 Brazos) as the art will be hanging until April 1st.
Thanks to all that made these events possible, as well as a special shout to Matt Sonzala of Damage Control fame for hooking me and my lil sis up with a "cool" pass. haha
yup
be on the lookout for a lot more shows coming through, as we are currently planning three shows for the next two months--peace-

Sqratch Karnival
Music Lab, Friday, Feb 2
Turntables remain the cornerstone of club music. Much of the digital technology that’s supposedly supplanted the traditional wheels of steel merely replicates the two-decks-and-a-mixer model established by Grandmaster Flash three decades ago. At Music Lab’s Oltorf location, superstar DJs Spinner T, Crop Diggie, Rodney, and Mista Ed celebrate the art of turntablism by hosting this 13th in a series of bimonthly Sqratch Karnivals. Both workshop and party, this Friday night affair resuscitates the old school. – Robert Gabriel

Individually and collectively the SuperStardjs have been a a mainstay in the Austin Hip Hop scene since its infancy. Dj Spinner T. and Dj Crop Diggie have been djing and working on music for then 20 years as a team! As true Texas b-boys Spinner T., Crop Diggie, Rodney and Mista Ed. are now on a mission to once again elevate the status of the Hip Hop Dj to the masses. Drawing on hip hop's history, the SuperStarDjs are taking it back to the roots. Having performed on many stages throughout Texas and beyond, the SuperStarDjs have an ability to command the crowd with unmistakable confidence. The SuperStarDjs play hip hop as it was intended. SuperStarDjs have been strong participants in SXSW for the last 4 years, with hosting several showcases for HoustonSoReal's Matt Sonzala as well as been featured djs at Club 115 and the Copa.
January 2006 the SuperStarDjs launched FatLaces on Graffiti Radio. As a tribute to the golden era of hip hop, Fat Laces has proved to provide a much needed void in the entertainment market. Averaging close 20,000 downloads a month, Fat Laces is poised to explode the old school scene on a worldwide level.
Additionally, SuperStarDjs coordinates a monthly dj gathering, Sqratch Karnival. Over the past year the function has gained statewide respect as one of the premiere scratch session events and has featured some of the south's most talented dj artist. Sqratch Karnival is an open forum for turntablists to interact with one another, providing excellent networking opportunities as well a means of information and technique exchange. As well a prime location to showcase new and advanced dj equipment with real world hands on applications.
SuperStarDjs have been strong participants in SXSW for the last 4 years, with hosting several showcases for HoustonSoReal's Matt Sonzala as well as been featured djs at Club 115 and the Copa. During the 2006 SXSW music conference Sqratch Karnival was sponsored by MOFOZVISUALZ and was hosted by the world famous Motive 807 sneaker store. There was a line around the corner to get in!
In 2007 coming off a spectacular SXSW showcase at the Copa the SSDJS thought what else can we do to give back to the DJ? Then it hit them, let’s start our own Dj competition! Partnering with Rome Navarro’s B-Boy City the yearly world famous weekend long B-Boy conference and competition, held in Austin, TX every year, the 1st annual King of Scratch was launched with an outstanding turnout with 16 DJ’s going head to head and coming as far as Los Angeles to participate, judge, and as spectators, crowning Dj Nick Nack as the first ever King of Scratch.
Also, in 2007 the Superstardjs launched there sister radio show Unlaced Radio. Giving unsigned artist worldwide exposure, an outlet to where they can be heard, not having to submit to the norm in trying to get there music to the masses.
With Unlaced Radio fast gaining the success of FatLaces fame, Sqratch Karnival steady gaining in popularity and being hosted in other cities with the first being in San Antonio, TX and with the 2nd Annual King of Scratch fast on the horizon, 2008 looks to be an even better year for the Superstardjs, as they seek opportunities to perform at events, festivals, and clubs for there worldwide fan base, it looks like they will not be slowing down anytime soon.
