MONTREAL, Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ - On February 20th, 2011, the Garage brand, known for its flirty casual fashion, hosted an exclusive VIP concert for the students of Corpus Christi High School of Burlington, Ontario. The school was crowned winner of the video-based "Get Loud" contest, which saw high schools across Canada and south of the border compete for the chance to win a private show by Marianas Trench - the Juno nominated, Canadian pop-rock band.
Launched in September 2010, the "Get Loud" contest asked students to submit videos showcasing their Garage spirit. These videos were cast, directed and edited by the participants themselves. They were posted on the contest's platform, getloud.garage.ca, which also enabled the uploaded content to be shared with friends on Facebook, Twitter and other social networks. The entries were subject to an online voting process which closed on November 15th, 2010. The videos generated over 317,900 votes and more than 13,000 comments on the getloud.garage.ca platform. Contest buzz was also generated on the brand's site & Facebook.
The concert took place Sunday night, in Burlington Ontario, where hundreds of excited teenagers rocked out to their favourite Marianas Trench songs. "Thanks Garage for making this dream come true; our own private concert! We'll remember this forever.", says 16 year-old Kaylin Martin, one of the students who submitted the winning entry. Garage's marketing team & Toronto's Z-103 were also on location to co-host the event.
Garage continues to connect with its teen customer by bringing fashion, music and creativity to the forefront. "We think it's important to keep delivering unique, relevant, fun experiences to our teen customers", says Melissa Bissell, Marketing Manager for the Garage brand.

Mike Ayley of Mariana Trench is a fan of Regina.
And that's because the Canadian pop punk band has lots of fans in the city, according to Ayley, bass player
and backing vocalist.
"We've been there a bunch, but not for a while," he said. "In 2009, we played at Evraz Place and that was
the biggest show we played during the entire tour in terms of turnout. Toronto usually has the highest
attendance. I was sure they'd made a mistake. It was awesome. I'm always excited to go back."
Marianas Trench recently released a new single, Haven't Had Enough. A new album, Ever After, is in the
works and the band hopes to have it released by October, Ayley said. It will be the third studio album for
the Juno-awardnominated group.
"The album's supposed to be like a dark, fairy-tale themed album," he continued. "I think it's going to be
more like our second than the first. The second was, I felt, more like a true album and a little bit more
streamlined. You can get the point of the songs more easily on the first or second listening and some of it
was more digestible to more people."
With the record in the works, the band has only been playing festivals this summer. Their show at Regina's
Queen City Ex next Wednesday night is right in the middle of a schedule that sees the group playing across
the country at a series of about 10 larger events, Ayley noted.
"It's cool because we have to finish the record throughout the summer, so we can't do too many shows," he
said. "But we get to try out new stuff. We've been playing two new songs, including Haven't Had Enough.
It's weird to be on stage and nervous playing songs again. All the old stuff, you know it, and just play it and
have fun. The new stuff keeps you on your toes. It's fun to feel those butterflies again."
But the amiable Ayley was coy about what fans in Regina should expect from the band, which also
includes Ian Casselman on drums and backing vocals, Josh Ramsay on lead vocals, rhythm guitar and
piano and Matt Webb on lead guitar, backing vocals and piano.
"When I go to see a movie and I expect it to suck, it usually impresses me," he said, with a laugh. "If I have
high expectations, then it usually sucks. So come with low expectations."
That being said, Marianas Trench - which is known for hits like Say Anything, Decided to Break It, Cross
My Heart and All to Myself- will put on an entertaining show, Ayley conceded.
"We're just going to have a good time. We'll be playing new songs and some of the best stuff from our past.
Hopefully, the weather's good. If there are people on the fence about coming or not, a band member may or
may not take their shirt off. That might actually scare people away, depending."

Vancouver bandmates of Marianas Trench proved how serious they are about their music with the voluminous sound
packed into their second album Masterpiece Theatre, but the spritely personalities of the group haven't changed since the
guys got together nearly 10 years ago.
They play the Port Theatre on Monday and have invited local talent Brandon Mason on stage to open the sold-out show.
Drummer Ian Casselman talked about the new CD yesterday as he walked to rehearsal in downtown Vancouver. The first
Masterpiece track opens the album and a second version of the song pops up as an interlude in the middle.
A third installment at the end completes the cohesiveness of the album by incorporating elements from every other track.
Josh Ramsay showcases his skills on this one, according to Casselman, who raved about the Masterpiece trilogy.
"He was a clever little bugger with those," he said.
The arrangements for Ramsay's songs, however, translate into much more rehearsals for bandmates.
"(Ramsay) writes what's best for the song. He doesn't think about the live stuff," the drummer explained. "Then when it all
comes together, we say how the hell are we supposed to play that?" It's been about two years since their last CD, but
bandmates look forward to promoting their latest project. They tour Canada at least twice this year, not including the
summer festivals, and they have stepped up to the challenge of producing their larger sound on stage. Ramsay and guitarist
Matt Webb replaced their keyboard with a full-size piano and the song writing requires far more vocals from everyone.
Both fans and the record label wanted a second album from the band, particularly after the success of their debut Fix Me,
but the guys took their time over the past year and put together an album they can be proud of, Casselman explained.
"We came off a high from the last album and from business side of things, momemtum is momentum, but if you put out a
crap album, there goes your momentum," he said. "We wanted to put out something that's good."
Mason opens for Marianas Trench. The local talent starts recording his first solo album this weekend and looks forward to
playing in front an 800-person audience. Mason left the four-piece group Morning Call, but has remained with the indie label
Drive Thru Records.
He's been working from a home studio, so you can check out samples of his songs at www.brandonmasonmusic.com or
check out the show next week. - DEREK SPALDING, THE DAILY NEWS MARCH 19, 2009
Josh Ramsay of Marianas Trench is pumped about the release of Masterpiece Theatre, the
group's second album on Feb. 24.
“It debuted number 4 on the billboard,” said Ramsay.
The album‟s first single "Cross My Heart‟ was a number one hit in Canada. The 24-year-old wrote the music for this album, putting more pressure on his shoulders.
“I was a little worried,” said Ramsay.
Marianas Trench is a mixture of rock and pop and is enjoyed by fans of all ages. The group consists of Ramsay on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Matt Webb on backup vocals
and lead guitar, Mike Ayley on bass guitar and backup vocals and Ian Casselman on drums and
backup vocals. “I went to high school with Matt,” said Ramsay. He has known the rest of the group for more
than five years. The group put out their first album, Fix Me, in 2006. A single from that CD "Say Anything,‟ hit number 3 on the Canadian single chart. Marianas Trench made an appearance on the ABC show Kyle XY and their song "Alibis‟ was
included on the Kyle XY soundtrack.
The group is heading out on the road on tour to support their newest album. “We are playing 20 to 25 shows from B.C. to Manitoba,” said Ramsay. This is not the first time Marianas Trench has performed in Trail. The band was here in 2006 as
the opening act for the group Lillix.
Ramsay is part of Canadian rock royalty. His father, Miles Ramsay, once owned Little Mountain
Sound Studios and his mother, Corlynn Hanney, was a singer with Leonard Cohen‟s band.
Ramsay has also started writing and producing for other artists.
He recently wrote a song for Carly Rae Jepsen, runner up on the 2007 season of Canadian Idol.

You thought the platinum-selling Masterpiece Theatre was ambitious? Just wait.
Its definitely more epic, says Josh Ramsay, emphatically, of the upcoming Marianas Trench album, Ever After. Ramsay and his three bandmates, Matt Webb, Michael Ayley, and Ian Casselman, have been holed up in the frontmans studio since they wrapped up some long and hard roadwork at the end of 2010, and his creative juices were obviously starting to leak. Based on what theyve done so far, Ever After is going to be massive.
There are some things that are really over the top on this record, Ramsay chuckles, a mere day after he recorded the orchestral section of the albums widescreen opening track. It sounds like a chase scene, he says. I was, like, We need 50 string players and we gotta to do this right!
Doing it right, in this case, means no looking back. Masterpiece Theatre was a breakthrough record; Ever After takes the band even further on its sonic adventure. Consider the lean 80s funk of the single Havent Had Enough as a sort of basic unit on Ever After. Desperate Measures and the amazing Stutter are no less skin-tight, but with Ramsays jones for the Beach Boys and Queen-calibre vocal arrangements crashing into something with the dimensions of Thriller-era Michael Jackson.
Ramsay is also playing up the underused R&B side of his voice on Ever After, turning the epic power ballad By Now into an emotional workout, soaring over the krushed groove of Fallout, and generally manifesting his inner soul man all over the place. Its acrobatic work, but Ramsay was keen to push himself. I like to sing in that style, he says, its something I really enjoy, but its gonna be a challenge live, for sure.
Truth or Dare makes an even bolder statement with its choppy flamenco parts and a hook that sounds like a Maori singing backwards; something that Ramsay proudly says they achieved with effects-laden guitar instead of synths. But playing with sound is only half of the equation on Ever After. Theres also the conceptual part.
All the songs live on their own as songs, Ramsay explains, but they also serve the purpose of telling a little narrative story throughout the record. I wanted to do that on the last record but as a writer I wasnt ready. I had to step it up, which is also why I decided to produce Ever After on my own. If this is all gonna tie together, then you really need to see it through yourself.
Ramsay conjured a dark, Tim Burton-inspired fairy tale for the album we already saw its toy town setting in the Havent Had Enough video and found musical inspiration in composers Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer, and Hollywood blockbusters like Super 8. Ever After plays, in fact, as one continuous track, like one long song, or a symphony with movements, as Ramsay puts it. Not that you cant listen to the tracks individually, he stresses, but Ever After is every inch a cohesive narrative experience, and the work of a band asserting total creative control over its product.
Excited yet? Stayed tuned.
