Vanilla Sky

In February of 2002, four musicians from Rome, Italy began a project that would combine their individual experience with their appreciation for the development of pop/punk music. Inspired by the kings of the genre, Blink 182, Vinx, Brian, Luca, and Cisco headed into a Roman garage to begin the process of blending their musical talents as one band, Vanilla Sky. Together, they recorded an unassisted demo with a sound whose quality would soon speak for itself.

After much practice, Vanilla Sky took their music to the stages of Rome. They performed at venues all around the Eternal City with songs from their demo entitled, "Play It If You Can't Say It," which ended up being a hit among crowds. Their energetic sound quickly led to sold out copies in less than two months. As word of Vanilla Sky spread across Italy, more experienced bands in the pop/punk scene begant to take notice and invited the Roman quartet out on the road. This was a huge honor for the guys, as it gave them the opportunity to tour throughout their home country.

After several successful tours supporting other acts, this Rome based band was approached with their very first record deal from Whynona Records of Genoa, Italy. The Italian label gave Vanllia Sky the opportunity to record two splits: "Too Loud For You," and "The Rest Is History." The second split was so successful, it reached fans all the way in Japan via Ambience Records. The guys were certainly amazed to learn that people so far from Rome were becoming fans of their music.

With popularity exceeding all expectations, Vanilla Sky recorded their first full length album, "Waiting For Something," in 2004. After it's release, they were invited to play at many prestigious rock festivals throughout Europe; they shared the stage with prominent bands like Forty Winks, The Break, Yellowcard, Flogging Molly, The Ataris, NOFX, Good Charlotte, The Offspring, The Hives, My Chemical Romance, and many more.

Vanilla Sky's hard work and dedication to their music with their relentless touring in Europe and Japan have led to their success. After selling more than 25,000 copies of their debut album, and over 5,000 of their EP, they caught the attention of many European and International personalities in the music business-- specifically Mark Hoppus of Blink 182/+44.

After collaborating in the studio with Hoppus on a track called, "Nightmare," Vanilla Sky took time from touring and spent a year writing, arranging, and fine tuning songs from 2006 for their second full length release. Unfortunately most of the date was lost in the recording process and the guys were forced to re-record the album in a short time. Despite the setback, they quickly finished the record, and returned to the stages of Europe.

As media attention grew, Vanilla Sky received several offers from the biggest labels in the music business. They finally signed with Universal (Italy) who launched their new record, "Changes," on June 22, 2007. This 2007 release features a cover of Rihanna's "Umbrella," which has become a hit among European music outlets. The success of this album even landed the guys on the cover of Rock Sound magazine.

Since that time, the band has continued to tour throughout Europe and has even launched a YouTube vidwo podcast, Vanilla Sky TV, which takes a look at their life on the road and in the studio. In March, their single, "Break It Out" was added to the popular video game, Guitar Hero World Tour, joining the ranks among the leaders in today's music industry.

With their European Changes Tour complete, Vanilla Sky is now in the studio work on a third album, so expect to hear more from these guys in the coming months.
