"The garage doors are now open." (4 page feature story) - Rolling Stone (FR)
"One of the Southwest's greatest bands. The Demon and the Devotee represents a sizable sonic leap forward for the Love Me Nots, proving their undeniable relevance as a modern band." - Flagstaff Live 5/11
"Best Rock of 2011: The Demon and The Devotee" - Portal Rock Press (Brazil)
"Best Rock of 2011: The Demon and The Devotee" - Portal Rock Press (Brazil)
"Demons" selected for KWSS TMI Rock Local Best Garage Song Award - KWSS 106.7 (Phoenix)
"The Demon and The Devotee is the band's best record to date. Every track here falls into the band's '60s garage/spy rock/sexy pop sound, but the recordings are more crisp than ever and the lyrics take on a darker tone on tracks like "The End of the Line" (no doubt influenced by front woman Nicole Laurenne's recent cancer scare). The band's music has always been great to dance and drink to, but with this album, it's evolved into music you can think to, as well." - Phoenix New Times
"The kind of smart, sexy sass that Blondie used to excel in, 'She's Nothing Like Me' is perfect pop rock sung from the point of view of the other woman." - Classic Rock (UK)
"The Love Me Nots are tough and grimy as all get-out." - Billboard 1/09
"The Demon and The Devotee: A magnificent accomplishment, in technicolor. FOUR STARS." - Rock & Folk (France)
"The Demon and The Devotee: Enthusiastic as hell, furiously hammering blows of killer riffs and organ loops, perfect for barbecue parties on the beach this summer. Novices should be conquered automatically." - Rolling Stone
"The Love Me Nots are one of the few modern garage-rock revivalists whose lust-ridden, keyboard-pumped songs rank with their storied influences. The coed Phoenix combo even titled their groovy new CD, 'DETROIT,' in a nod to their sonic inspirations as well as their ubiquitous Motor City producer, Jim Diamond." -Falling James
- Village Voice
"With riffs of incendiary fuzz, carnival Farfisa organ, feverish female vocals, garage ambience, one of the more exciting rock acts of the moment comes to us from Phoenix Arizona, with their second album. On vocals and organ, Nicole Laurenne's acid voice - a Grace Slick on amphetamines - floats little sonic bombs that pull you under the electric waves (Walk Around Them, Bulletproof Heart, Secret Pocket, etc). Underneath, Christina Nunez (bass), Michael Johnny Walker (guitar), and Jay Lien (drums) knit together a wall of sound that is equally feverish and powerful. The result - produced by Jim Diamond (White Stripes) like their In Black & White in 2006 - makes you listen the first time through without exhaling and then you are stuck going back to listen again from side one, for there is an equally good second side. Stunningly feverish, Detroit could serve as the soundtrack to a Tarantino film. Disc of the month." - Alain Gouivron, Rolling Stone (France) May 2009 - Rolling Stone
"'Move In Tight': With their leggy, go-go-booted singer smacking her Farfisa and purring/shouting demands, this Phoenix outfit turns a geeky garage schtick into white heat." - SPIN
"With their fuzzed out vocals, reverb-soaked organs and frantic beats, The Love Me Nots are a delightfully trashy throwback to the '60s. This Phoenix-based band brings back Detroit retro-garage rock in a big way. Irresistable." - Billy Zero
"[T]he Phoenix-based Love Me Nots sound as if they've been stashed in a time capsule since the swinging '60s. The foursome is fronted by Farfisa-slinging singer Nicole; its debut CD, 'In Black & White' features high-profile production by White Stripes engineer Jim Diamond, captur[es] the band's old-school hooks and libidinous energy. Even better, Diamond leaves ample room in the mix for guitarist Michael Johnny Walker's sizzling six-string workouts. From the Animals-esque riffage of "Alley" to the Greenhornes-ish "Break My Heart," the Love Me Nots are intent on shaking a tail feather in 2007, and we're betting you won't be able to stop yourself from doing the same when you hear them." - Jonathan Perry
"The Love Me Nots are two hot chicks, one guitar hero and a skinsman (if you squint, he could be the bastard son of Jimmy Marinos and Clem Burke) who happen to kick up a din that'd do old Question Mark proud... [T]he Love Me Nots don't sound too far off from the Spiders, that glorious '60s Phoenix band Alice Cooper had before he was Alice Cooper. Just add a wheezy Farfisa, do-me go-go boots, fetching Beau Brummels suits, some Tina envy and a chanteuse who can torch the house down." - Meghana Keshavan
"DETROIT will make the hair stand up on the back of your neck. Could just as easily be audition tapes for Nuggets as hit singles. Takes the hook from 'The Munsters' theme, drops it into a pair of go-go boots and blasts it back through a wall of fuzz and reverb. The band is from Phoenix but Detroit is a far more apt title for their attitude, and with this exciting, danceable, rocking garage platter, they’re earned that association." - B. Holmes
