Perfectly produced pop magic - solid songwriting that employs interesting changes and arrangements as a focus. The Irish band, Duped, submits their 4 song EP, "Meanwhile Elsewhere", to be heard as it is - radio ready and full of love angst and pop pain. The opening tune is a fast pop in your face bubble gummy wonder that turns into an experimental jazz/distortion thing. .so cool. The long mp3 tune here, "Good Nature", reminds us of some of the breathy Mrs. Robinson era vocal approaches. It's intimate and personal. Still - the pop and production are 2005. The fact that there's only 4 songs instead of 10 as a record from the past, is 2005 as well. You can tell these guys focused on the 4 tunes and did them incredibly well. The tune "Too Many Times", is a passionate song and our immediate favorite. The chorus, 'one too many times' purposely gives the phonetic impression that the lyrics are either 'want to - or want you'. . .too many times - clever and gives deeper dimensions to discovering their music. The final tune is "Second chance" and begins with a moving bass line and acoustic recording throughout and completely live. You can tell the recording was done in a large space. We wouldn't be suprised if the vocals were recorded at the same time. There's an organic quality to the music and entire record - which is difficult to achieve in the genre. Buy it. We expect to watch this band do big things. No reason not to - it's really that interesting.

Duped have come up with an EP titled ‘Meanwhile Elsewhere’ . Great pop songs with some deep and black lyrical undercurrents of broken hearts, and limbs, that could fill any night out in Sleepy Hollow.
If I had one problem with Duped in the past, and I could be totally wrong, it was that they were too effing good and suffered somewhat from their obvious mastery of their various instruments. Live they were all so on the button, and individualistic, that it seemed that the odd little mistake would have lightened things.
Here Duped come up with the goodies with four very impressive tracks indeed. Tracks that beg for that live arena. There is a cohesiveness there now that I felt was lacking in the past. It’s something they should be mighty excited about indeed. The band seem more relaxed and it shows in how they have gone about their business. These are songs that stick to the back of yer brain.
The opening track, I Can’t Win, has a killer pop chorus that masks a pretty in yer face lyric. Good Nature has a strong anthemic quality to it but for me the stand out track is Too Many Times. A gem. I hope Duped don’t mind comparisons but it’s ‘the’ track that Relish would have loved to have written. The final track, Second Chance is a grower and maybe the ballady type thing that stands out for most in the end. More on Duped above on this page but get yer mits on a copy of ‘Meanwhile Elsewhere’.

Quirky pop, that lies somewhere between the Smiths and the Beatles! That's where you'll find Duped these days. Either playing high profile gigs up and down the country or tucked away in their studio adding whistles and bells to harmonious driven guitar songs.
Duped consists of 4 core members, with the odd ivory -tinkler or brass player added (only when they run out of hands themselves of course!) to their high energy live shows. it's often in these live settings where the band find themselves at their peak. as is evident from recent performances at the Hard Working Class Heroes A+R showcase, Murphy’s band of the year finals, On The Verge expo in Derry, supports with Hal, Mundy and Paddy Casey and of course racking up 4 (and counting) appearances at the famed Ruby Sessions which has played host to Damien Rice, Damien Dempsey, Joe Chester, etc.
Duped have just released their first E.P. - "Meanwhile Elsewhere", as an industry release which has been selling quickly on their website dupedmusic.com. The E.P. was recorded, produced, engineered and packaged in their own hand built studios. Add to this a track on a forthcoming Thin Lizzy tribute album due for international release in the new year and is to include such luminaries as the Darkness. the track itself, a version of Don't Believe a Word (featuring electric piano's, banjo's and backward guitars!) has already met the approval of the surviving Thin Lizzy line-up.
