Dekadens

Dekadens' debut album was released by record label Roadrunner Music on the 6th June at "Clubul Taranului Roman".
"Kill and Tell", contains 11 indie songs with garage influences.
The album graphics are very expressive, showing the 4 members of the band sitting on a terrace under the name of "dekadens", in the interior, a packet of cigarettes marked "Kill and tell".

Becky, Jan, Mihai and Florin started playing together in the spring of 2006, and after 2 years of work, they've successfully launched their first album, "Kill and Tell". We should mention that Becky is half english and has lived for some time iin London, where she acquired a genuine accent, which you can hear are the tracks.
The album is recorded in good quality, with the combination of a strong british accent, I believed I was listening to an album outside of the country. The material is very well structured, giving off an energy that this band is on the right track. - Sound Magazine

Dekadens – Omoara si Spune

This is an album full of rhythm, energy, it is alive and filled with good vibes.It’s a short, simple, right to the point album without useless wonderings on the instruments.Above all, we also have the excellent voicing of the lead singer, Becky Elian and her intelligent, lively and inventive lyrics.The whole 35 minutes of the album are more then enough to underline that this young new group, Dekadens, has proved it’s abilities.

Beyond these opinions, there is a hint of things done in the rush of releasing this album – although the songs are excellent and very well rounded, the sound quality isn’t quite what it is supposed to be, giving the impression of a live recording.

“Omoara si Spune” is a punk album in it’s essence, as much as musical approach is involved, and it blends post-punk, electro and alternative elements.The album draws attention to it’s very well written lyrics, that are very sincere and flow naturally with great echo.The second song off the album,”Scapa”and perhaps the very best song off the album, speaks for itself as a direct example of strong and well written lyrics :

” Zilele insorite s-au terminat,
Eu am ramas tot beat...
Sunt realist exagerat cand ma dau cu rujul meu,
Innebunesc de tot
Depasesc orice limita,
Imi dau frau liber problemelor,
O pramatie in varsta,
Caut sa trag ceva nou,
Obosit de aceleasi cacaturi...”

Besides the voice and the lyrics, the other stong points of this album would be :
The guitar (well organized and imaginative by managing not to be boring although the variety of riffs it’s not so big ) and the backing-vocals, which give a particular strength to some of the songs (like Getaway, Fire in the Hole, Love is).

Through all the energy and dynamics of this album, “Omoara si Spune” is far from being a superficial album.You Know is the best example , consisting in an extremely intense song , distinct from the rest of the material as far as atmosphere and lyrics are concerned.In this line of thought, Climbing up the Walls has a chorus that’s plain genius and an acoustic outro to measure up to the chorus.

“Ratacind pe coridoarele unei minti obscure,
Cautand salvarea, incercand sa gasesti un leac...
Adu-ti toate fricile in cea mai intunecata camera...
Aseaza-te in genunchi.. intra in rol...”

Another fine ass song, sweet motherfucking song, finger licking good piece of music, is Fire in the Hole, an incontrollable burst of energy, with cryptic lyrics :

“Apa este ceea ce inspiri, expiri, hey…
Focul este leacul, reluarea instanta…

Noi pornim focuri
Si nu ne pasa
Noi pornim focuri
Si ardem...”

A similar atmosphere of continous movement, of mayhem and agitation, we encounter on “The Hunt”, where the purpose is being expressed by an obsessive – repetitious guitar riff :

“Sa energizam ! Sa energizam !
Sa energizam !... Terminatiiii !!!
