The Canadian Organization of Campus Activities (COCA) is seeking 15 Sonicbids artists to perform at this year's event.

The Opportunity

Founded in 1982, COCA is dedicated purely to campus activities programming in Canada. The event, taking place at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, will include two days and three nights of music, networking, trade show and educational sessions. Approximately 60 delegates will be in attendance representing 25 schools located in Ontario and Quebec.

Selected artists must pay a showcase fee. Selected artists must also become COCA associate members or be represented by a company that is, or will become, a COCA associate member. All selected acts must be represented in the Biz Hall (trade show) either by a member of the act itself or by a company representing the act. Trade Show date is Saturday, November 8, 2014. Associate membership and conference registration (biz hall) forms are available at the COCA website under Conferences & Meetings Central Regional Conferences. 

The Band

  • Genres accepted include, but are not limited to rock, Americana, folk, singer/songwriter, acoustic, urban, electronic, DJ, soul, reggae, spoken word, lecture, comedy, non-music

The Gig

Details

  • Standup Comedy sets are 15 minutes each
  • All other sets are 20 minutes each
  • All showcases will be advanced by the production manager with the acts selected to showcase at the conference
  • Sound checks are the morning or afternoon on the day of the showcase
  • There will be 5 different showcases stages with no overlap between sets
Additional Compensation Details
  • Artists may sell merch on-site
  • If you are a Canadian artist, there are a number of
    organizations such as FACTOR and provincial music industry associations that assist artists with travel expenses involved with showcasing at contact events such as COCA conferences.
