Bio
Vernon and Laurel Jones have been writing songs together since early 2007. Laurel is the main lyricist and Vernon brings the music to life with heartfelt vocals and strong guitar-based songwriting skills. They recently relocated to Ottawa, Ontario after many years in Victoria, BC.
Their first release, Swimming in a Hurricane, was released in the spring of 2009, and the title song was selected to appear on a compilation CD called Songs of Support released by Songramp in support of the White Ribbon Campaign - Men working to end men's violence toward women. (Songramp is a Nashville-based online songwriting site whose membership includes a tremendous number of extremely talented artists.)
The new release, "Ceasefire" was completed in February 2011. This is a "concept album" in the traditional sense, and one you will definitely want in your collection.
Current live performances include songs from both CD's as well as other unreleased numbers, and the odd cover thrown in for good measure.
Vernon and Laurel's unique flair for innovative songwriting is continually evolving from a very promising start. Check out their website at www.lyallstreetsongs.com. We hope you get a chance to see a live performance soon. You're sure to enjoy it!
