"Femme Metal Webzine"

“…one of the more surprising albums of the year, Bitten. Spider Rockets comes at you straight-ahead with all the enthusiasm and swagger of punk combined with melodic hard rock which helps make the album instantly memorable.” Tony Cannella - Femme Metal Webzine

"AntiMusic.com"

"With an insistent bass riff and powerful drumming Bitten's opening track 'Going Down' could be a reference to someone getting beat up or arrested. But singer Helena Cos doesn't leave any room for interpretation; she's using the term as it might be whispered in the bedroom except that she's not whispering and she's not taking no for an answer. Forcefulness but not bombast prevails throughout the album.... Spider Rockets seemingly has everything going here to breakthrough: well-written songs full of slashing guitars and swagger, a sexy and sassy front woman and just enough innuendo to keep a knowing grin on the listener's face." Kevin Wierzbicki - AntiMusic.com

"Hails and Horns Magazine"

"Spider Rockets display a no-nonsense and straightforward approach pumping through an arena-ready throbbing hard rock pulse on their latest release 'Bitten.' This seasoned New Jersey quartet boasts an alluring female lead vocalist whose powerful pipes take the unit’s slickly produced modern hard rock anthems to more soulful places than expected (‘Nothing Left’). Displaying the versatility to run you over with nasty riffs and brazen attitude (‘Going Down’) or uplift the mood with a stellar party jam galvanized with big rock guitars (‘Better When It’s Loud’), Spider Rockets produce solidly written and surprisingly heavy hard rock with a sound that begs to be played for the masses (‘So High’)." Mike SOS, Hails and Horns Magazine, 10/12 - Hails and Horns Magazine

"Don Jamieson, co-host of "That Metal Show""

"Spider Rockets are a fresh, new heavy rock band with great chops, energetic songs and a front WOMAN with lots of range. 'Bitten' rocks from beginning to end and their cover of Golden Earring's 'Twilight Zone' is catchy as hell. They are the new Youth Gone Wild!" Don Jamieson - Don Jamieson, co-host of "That Metal Show"

"MetalOdyssey.com"

“Bitten is one of the BEST albums I’ve listened to across ALL rock genres thus far in 2012. Spider Rockets are the missing F’n link in today’s American Heavy Music." Stone - MetalOdyssey.com

"About.com"

“Radio programmers should prepare to clear space in their top 10 rotation for ‘Scream’ and ‘Better When It's Loud,’.... Bitten is a loud rock record that pulls no punches, hides no cards, revels in the heritage of FM guitar bands and doesn't stray.... Beautifully mixed....” Todd Lyons - About.com

"Blogcritics"

"[Spider Rockets'] 'Bitten' is the soundtrack you wished your younger siblings obsessed with Twilight were playing. Lashings of glam rock with a touch of Blondie and all the class you want from this sort of music." Marty Dodge - Blogcritics

"Metal Warrants"

“…we can’t pigeon-hole Spider Rockets as just another female fronted rock band. There are many that all sound alike. Not the case here… there’s touches of goth, hard rock, metal, punk and alternative. Will appeal to fans of Slunt, Lullacry, No Doubt, Soundgarden, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Velvet Revolver and many, many more. You’re going to have to give ‘em a listen for yourself if you don’t believe me.” John Haseltine - Metal Warrants

“…Ever After is a showcase of [Spider Rockets’] diversity. This is an album to really get into; most certainly moving and haunting at the same time…. This is a group to be on the lookout for….” Eva M. Trudeau - I-Web Radio

"Rocknetwebzine.com"

“I really dug this release. The vocalist is a lady and she's very talented at what she does. I think the band is very talented and they're going in the right direction. I think what makes this band stand out is that they don't need complex music structures…. And the band really has that punk attitude. That's what I really liked. Not bad at all.” - Rocknetwebzine.com

“…Ever After…is a pretty rocking album overall….” - Metal Edge Magazine

"Disagreement E-Zine"

“Ever After is already the third CD by the Spider Rockets from New Jersey, but it’s the first time that this four-piece is released in Europe. Helter Skelter, although already often enough covered, is rejuvenated by Spider Rockets who succeed in rendering another incredible version of this Beatles classic. I like [Spider Rockets’] unusual approach towards music and would like to hear more from this outrageous band.” - Disagreement E-Zine

"Rock and a Hard Place"

“Spider Rockets is one of those groups that is easy to like, the musicianship is there, the songs are there and they aren't afraid to get out there and tour. You have to appreciate what the band has to offer.” Torch - Rock and a Hard Place

"While Ever After is not your characteristic metal fare, there is something on here for just about everyone. Granted you may not be banging your head and snapping your neck to this one but if you are a fan of solid, well-written and well produced music, you will probably really dig this. At the end of the day I think this is a good disc from an interesting band that I hope to hear more from in the future." Bruce Moore, - Pure Grain Audio

"Chiller Theater show review"

First up we're treated to the Spider Rockets....these cats know how to rock out, and they ignited the audience with a BANG! Their encore ended up being a stirring rendition of The Beatles' Helter Skelter, and I swear the entire tent was rocking out harder than ever. - HorrorChannel.com

"Overloaded Radio, Wales UK"

Spider Rockets. Spider Rockets. Nicely packaged, nice songs and most of all nicely performed. An impressive album from an outfit that I was not familiar with. I must admit this album just keeps getting better and better each time I play it.

"Glitzine"

Spider Rockets are not just another female fronted rock band, they have a uniqueness about them that stands them in great stead amongst their fans. They manage to combine elements of goth, glam, rock, punk and alternative into a great sound and with the lush melodic yet adaptable vocals of Helena Cos they really are a force to be reckoned with.

“The songs twist and turn, offering up something new on each listen. To be totally honest I can't really find the words to describe this album, it's just complete, it really does have everything, and I don't care what music you are into, be it, Velvet Revolver, Alanis Morissette, No Doubt, Gwen Stefani, L7, The Beatles, Red Hot Chili Peppers or Soundgarden, Spider Rockets will have something to appeal to your tastes.

Songs like Anti Hero, Cold, Kiss You Dead and Disease are just brilliant.

"Metal Odyssey"

Over the decades, New Jersey is a State that some heavy duty and downright legendary bands and musicians have called home. It’s an impressive list: Misfits, DANZIG, Overkill, Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band along with Bon Jovi, have carved out their very own legendary status in Rock history.

Of course, other high profile bands of many Rock genres have formed out of this fabulous East Coast state, such as: Skid Row, The Smithereens, Blues Traveler, God Forbid, Symphony X, Mutiny Within, Trixter, Starz, The Gaslight Anthem, The Parlor Mob, Senses Fail, Ill Niño, The Dillinger Escape Plan and My Chemical Romance. New Jersey ROCKS.

"Then there’s The Garden State’s Spider Rockets. This band has created their own blueprint on how to ROCK. Will Spider Rockets one day be considered legends? Only time will tell… for now, I’ll just get my ears ROCKED OUT by Spider Rockets and it shall serve me right. This is a band that formed in the very late 90's with four studio albums under their Rockin’ belt. Those Spider Rockets are seasoned.
There’s no better time than RIGHT NOW to check out the back catalog of Spider Rockets and get smacked in the face by their expansive and heavy hittin’ sound and style. I extremely dig the attitude and Hard Rockin’ potency of Spider Rockets, this is a band that obviously disdains following the norm and they are all the better for it. Some sound Metal advice: Once you get bitten by what you hear from the Spider Rockets, it most often becomes an infectious craving to want more!
Scream is a song to be included on the forthcoming Spider Rockets studio album. Check out the music video below for Scream… witness and hear for yourself how Spider Rockets can deliver some hefty Rockin’ noize. Revved up noize that’s guaranteed to slap away any lame-ass mood you might be in at this moment. Metal be thy name. - Metal Odyssey

"Graceful Degradation Zine"

Spider Rockets' eponymous latest album… [is] dark in atmosphere, heavy in style, and just plain rocks. Just what I needed right now.

For some reason, I still find it a small surprise to encounter a band like this with a female vocalist, although it really shouldn't be. There are plenty more women coming to the fore in rock and metal these days - hell, I have quite a lot of albums with female singers and have seen some terrific live acts. Maybe it's just that sometimes the vocal is a bit too girlish and lacks the aggression for some of the heavier stuff. Helena Cos has no such problems. She is very versatile, handling both the heavier material and the more melodic style with aplomb. Power Tripping for example has a gentler, more elegant vocal style and Cos infuses it with emotion. Album opener Kiss You Dead on the other hand is dripping venom.

I love the dark, heavier sound of Limited Time Only, courtesy of the guitars mainly but with some solid drumming underscoring it all. It goes into a lighter mid-section before letting fly with a terrific solo from lead guitarist Johnny Nap then heading into darker territory again. Very well judged so the pace and tone changes don't jar but form a seamless whole. Slower paced yet no less aggressive Anti-Hero is one of the highlights of the album. I particularly like Dan Prestup's drumming here, together with the bass it creates a sinuous, almost hypnotic rhythm to underpin the vocals.

Spider Rockets is a great album from a terrific band. I imagine the New Jersey foursome put on a pretty damn live show, and hope to have the chance to see them some time. - Graceful Degradation Zine

"Strutter Zine"

Tough female fronted hard rock with a modern touch…the album definitely rocks from the first few seconds of opener “Kiss You Dead” until the very end with “No Place to Hide.” If you want to hear a lady rock out really hard and still sound melodic, well then look no further than this SPIDER ROCKETS record. (Points: 8.4 out of 10) - Strutter Zine

"Gothic Vixen Zine"

In the vein of bands like L7 and Kittie, SPIDER ROCKETS is a girl-fronted powerhouse that will rock your socks off. Front-woman Helena Cos spits aggressive vocals that live up to the "Flipped Off" name, while backed up by heart pounding instrumentals. The band spirals down 11 tracks on this release: with song titles like "Shut the Hell Up" and "Bitch," you're gonna get all the attitude you would expect. Don't worry about this being just another "pissed off bitch" release though, the lyrics are intelligently written and are presented in a way that makes a statement as opposed to just coming off as annoying. Helena Cos contains all the angst and passion of Alanis Morrisette, except delivers it 100 times better. This New Jersey band will hit you like a sucker punch to the face and leave you begging for more.

"Quintessence Metal Webzine"

Quite a surprise when you read about how a band comes together. 1996 was the origin of this band with members from San Francisco and New Jersey..completely opposite coasts. They quickly started gigging the likes of CBGB's and The Mercury Lounge with locals and signed acts like Slash's Snakepit and also performing at the 1999 Kosovo Relief Festival. This 11-track CD sports a Metal/Crossover to Alternative reminiscent of 45 Grave and L7 with STP and Stavesacre but with the female vocal power of Helena Cos. Martin Bisi was the production man and known for his work with White Zombie, Helmet and Sonic Youth. The CD quickly debuted on the CMJ Top 20 charts and won in various contests as well as received awards. I find them to be very refreshing and identifiable; one huge thing needed for today's music scene. These are the kind of bands the labels need to look into and not all the ones that sound even an inkling of Creed or Godsmack....good bands but well overhyped! - Wayne Klinger

Bio

Spider Rockets combines contemporary loud rock with classic rock elements. The New Jersey-based band travels the sonic spectrum from dark and seductive to energetic to angry, with a dynamic live show and scream-along anthems.

Loud rock has always been at the core of the group. Lead singer, Helena Cos, and guitarist, Johnny Nap, started as a duo playing every dive bar in New Jersey and New York City. In between cranking out crowd favorites from AC/DC, Judas Priest, Guns n Roses and Metallica, the two would test the waters by infusing some of their original material. This was a unique setup as the two had an electronic rhythm section and pumped out loud rock, something unheard of in the genre.

The duo soon expanded to a full lineup and began working with Brooklyn-based indie producer, Martin Bisi, best known for recording iconic albums by Sonic Youth, John Zorn, Herbie Hancock (including the Grammy-winning "Rockit"), Helmet and White Zombie. Still in their infancy, the group managed to release their first effort, Flipped Off, which officially marked the end of the electronic rock duo format.

An EP entitled Preview followed, but the group began to hone in on their sound with the release of Ever After which was picked up for North American and European distribution by Locomotive Records. Some experience began to pay off as Ever After yielded top adds on CMJ and FMQB radio charts.

The group produced their next release, the self-titled Spider Rockets, closer to home at Trax East in their native New Jersey. With Eric Rachel manning the boards (Atreyu, Black Dahlia Murder, Hatebreed, Misfits, Patti Smith Group, etc.), the group issued a more musically progressive offering. By now, the group had began touring on a national scale and supporting the likes of Pop Evil, Framing Hanley, ran a leg on Vans Warped Tour and scored a slot at Berlins Popkomm Festival.

Now, savvy at the art of song-crafting, Spider Rockets re-entered the studio to record the upcoming, Bitten, produced once again by Eric Rachel in New Jersey and with co-production credits going to Ryan Sambrook and mixing by Zach Ziskin in South Florida. From both a compositional and performance standpoint, Bitten is the groups strongest work to date. Long before completion of the record, an early rendition of one stand-out track,Scream, garnered over 35,000 hits on YouTube without any promotional efforts and no official release.

Spider Rockets is aiming to up the ante with its new CD Bitten. The CD has been well received at press and radio and the members of Spider Rockets look forward to touring to support the release.
