Sydney has another star on its hands. HEYMUN is bringing back a new and refreshing sound to our stereos.
HEYMUN began songwriting after treating herself to a $99 Yamaha guitar and aren’t we glad she did. Several songs and a sprained pinky finger from stressing the high E strings later she decided to produce her first EP. Sharing her tunes instead of wasting them away on her brown suede sofa.
Her first song “By Sea” is now played by Triple J’s Unearthed digital radio, Malaysian Airlines and Garuda Indonesia in-flight radio. As well as winning an Honorary Mention at The International Songwriting Competition, she is currently in the running as a semifinalist at the Unsigned Only 2013 Competition.

Malaysia-born, Sydney based folk-singer HeyMun has got a lot on her plate at the moment. Not only did she recently win the international Unsigned Only Music Competition, HeyMun is also about to head over to New York for the Emerging New Artist showcase at the CBGB Festival this October.

HeyMun Tan wins Folk/Singer-Songwriter category at the Unsigned Only Music Competition.
MALAYSIAN singer-songwriter HeyMun Tan won first place in the Folk/Singer-Songwriter category at a recent online music competition which was judged by famous recording artistes such as Cyndi Lauper, Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders and Iggy Pop. - The Star Malaysia Newspaper

HeyMun began songwriting after she walked into a music store in Sydney and decided to treat herself to her first 99 dollar Yamaha Guitar.Several songs written and a sprained pinky finger from over stressing the High E string later, she decided to produce her debut EP instead of just playing her tunes to her brown suede sofa.
Today her tracks are played on Australia's Triple J Unearthed Digital Radio,FBi Radio,Traxx FM, HITZ FM Malaysian Airlines and Garuda Indonesia Airline's Inflight radio.
She won First Place for Folk/Singer-Songwriter at the Unsigned Only 2013 & an Honorable Mention at The International Songwriting Competition.
HEYMUN played her first US Showcase at The CBGB Festival 2013 in New York.
Her latest single release Sailor was produced by Tony Buchen ( The Preatures, The Whitlams , Washington) and mastered by Leon Zervos at Studios 301
