After reading the interview below and playing the samples at the bottom of this page, Endangered Speeches will be your new favorite band.
Guaranteed.
It doesn’t even matter if you’re one of those self-limiting types who say things like, “I like all music except for country,” or “I like everything except for rap.”
It’s still guaranteed.
One of the fundamental components of the Endangered Speeches sound, according to composer and lead vocalist Mariletta Konstantara, is the diversity of its musicians. Comprised of 13 members hailing from different countries all over the world, including different cities all over the country, Endangered Speeches offers something for everyone. And, as students and very recent alumni of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, they represent the next generation of dedicated virtuosos who will soon refresh the stale sound of today’s formula-driven industry.
Rooted in hip-hop and reggae, the band is led by Konstantara, who on any given night can be seen swinging her dreadlocks in time, or leading the band with her fists like a seasoned orchestral composer. Konstantara, who herself was born and raised in Athens, Greece, is a multi-faceted vocal talent, one minute spitting soulful verses like the Greek Goddess of hip-hop, and the next, hypnotizing her audience with a classically trained Eastern lilt. - Establishmag.com

- 9/09/2010, "Endangered Speeches" at the House of Blues Front Room
WORD: ENDANGERED SPEECHES is an interesting 12 piece multicultural band that doesn't compromise with pop music: they offered a well informed, studio quality live sound, built from an interwoven fabric of urban, world, alternative nation, reggae roots, rap and jazz music memory, at the outset. The apparent band leader, a dredlocked prophet named Mariletta from Greece, tells stories built around experiences in life. I sat beside a featured guest singer and a member of the chorus who told me "its what she says with her words that when people listen carefully, they'll identify and appreciate their own spiritual natures."Well, its true! We heard three songs before we split. She is good. - http://www.movef.com/

Bio
Endangered Speeches, the creative brainchild of Greek MC/singer/composer/arranger Mariletta Konstantara, aims to restore a meaningful message and forward direction to hip-hop music. Rooted equally in hip-hop and reggae, the Endangered Speeches sound is characterized chiefly by the unique global view brought by each of its 13 members. Although Drum n’ Bass, Dub, Ska, Soul and Rebetika (traditional Greek music), all contribute toward a diverse sound, the cemented rhythm section, airtight horns, and four-part vocal harmonies build a sound both unbreakable and unmistakable.
Founded in 2009, it took a year until the band’s lineup solidified. Now, under the direction of the native Athenian, the group is equipped to bring their signature sound, style, and statement back to all the corners of the world that members call “home.” While Endangered Speeches formed at Berklee College of Music and currently call Boston their collective home, members hail from places as wide-ranging as Canada, Mexico, Norway, Greece, Africa, India and around United States, each with diverse musical experience.
Now, with the forthcoming release of the debut album, The City is Rough, the band moves determinedly forward, poised to bring the music “home.”
