Bio

Dig Davis Down is a Calgary based, high performance 4pc group, vocally fronted by the charismatic, sexy and soulfully sonic Christine Davis. Christine has played the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Calgary Blues Festival, just about every club in Calgary that has or had live music, and she has even outlived a few of them! Originally from Vancouver Island, her mentors and teachers are a who's who of Canadian living legend artists like Bill Dowey, Tim Williams, Garret Mason, Duris Maxwell, Kelly Jay, Back Alley John, Mickey Joy (RIP), all of whom took her under their wings to pass on musical wisdom and the keys to finding the soul in all things. With a passion for music and fashion, Christine brings the look and the sound of the modern woman that can go toe-to-toe with the greats of yesterday and today.  Her self penned single, Nightengale is entertaining the troops in action in Europe on Radio Whiskey and Cigarettes out of Italy, which dovetails nicely with her ridiculous collection of hats!

Christine's partner in music and life, Terry Lacroix , a tenacious and devout bassist with a keen eye for sliding backbones, and a sharp ear for pocket grooves, Terry has put in a lengthy apprenticeship in the clubs and halls of Western Canada, plus a few dates in the U.S. and in Europe, giving Terry the musical vocabulary to sit with a litany of local and world artists including Abdou Guite Seck and Youssou Seck from Senegal, David J David from Sudan, Indie Artists in Calgary Including Ben Rose, Amy Theissen, Jazz Fusion artists Jason Kendall and Brent Van Dusen, Blues Artists such as Bill Dowey, Kelly Jay, Sonny Rhodes, Tim Williams, R&B; group Blue Rhino, Latin group Banda Brava and his early bands, Willy and the Poor Boys, the Dirty Urge and the band that started it all, The Stand. His musical and spiritual connection to Christine is evident as they play on stage together like hockey players, passing the mojo back and forth like it was the puck!

To further the analogy, DDD is backstopped by the great Gavin Sorochan, Dig Davis Down is pleased and honoured to have Gavin on our team as we join the list of artists Gavin has supported over the years, including: Joan Rivers, Sweet, Destino Tenors, Bobby Arvon (Harry James Orchestra), Scott Keo (Michael Buble Tribute), Susan Anton, Howard McCrary (Chaka Khan, Michael Jackson), The Platters, The Drifters and The Coasters. He has traveled extensively in Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, the UK and Europe. In 1999, Gavin had the distinct privilege of playing for Prime Minister Jean Chretien.
Additionally, he was awarded the honour of Jazz/Blues Song of the Year for the song 'I Believed It' and Urban/R&B;/Soul Song of the Year for the song 'Free' at the 2008 GMA Awards. In January 2008, Gavin played the Miss America Gala at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Nevada. Consequently, he toured, through to his final appearance, with Canada's most prolific country artist, Ray Griff.
Dig Davis Down is absolutely thrilled to have him onboard. The 4th pillar of this house, DDD has two enigmatic lead players to choose from: Steve Halverson and or Brian McCullough, both of whom are dedicated monsters..(sorry, masters) of the six gun stringers! Both are nimble of finger and capable of bringing real emotion from their broken hearts to yours; Both have recording and touring credits in Calgary and Western Canada, and DDD is honored with their contributions as well.

Our wildcard artist is the incredible Roxanne Young. Considered by to be a musical treasure, and called the Mona Lisa of fiddle players, Roxanne is one of only 14 musicians in the world to be honoured on the renowned Berklee College of Music’s stringed instrument Hall of Fame. She has worked with Aerosmith, Disney, Cirque de Soleil, Alanis Morissette and many more. She has performed all over the world and has graced the stage of Carnegie Hall with her breathtaking musical genius. After 14 years of touring, Roxanne took a break from the road to study with mentor, Matt Glaser and graduated from Berklee College of Music on a scholarship for Jazz Performance and Arranging for Big Band She also dedicated 5 years to the creation and evolutionary process of the international touring sensation, Barrage, incorporating many styles, from calypso and swing to Chinese jazz-fusion. Barrage was a huge success, leading to extensive tours throughout Canada, the USA, Europe and Asia, 4 full-length recordings, 2 MTV videos, a DVD documentary and a special on Public Television.
