Bio
Champney Street, a band of 5 childhood friends, have been playing music collectively for over a decade. The group met outside Boston, MA, where 4 out of 5 members attended the same high school. In 2009, Jason Curry (drummer) and Mike Naugler (singer) began playing together, following the addition of Jon Jaffee (guitarist) and Nathaniel Lanier (bass player) in Fall 2010 to form the now defunct band, The Wondermics. From 2010 to 2014, the project gigged around the New England area playing a mixture of funk, soul, and hip-hop. In Summer 2014, The Wondermics added Nick Throop (guitarist) to the band, exploring a new sound emphasizing vocal harmonies and more complex songwriting.
In the Fall of 2015, the group decided to leave it’s old name and start fresh as Champney Street. Aside from a long history of friendship and camaraderie, the band bonds over a shared love of old school soul
